Been no problems if they'd strung her up!William the White wrote:So right... And an innocent woman loses four years of her life... A family comes close to destruction and often hits despair... Must be a sexual deviant if she does that. You could lock up half of the posters on here for that
The evidence was a knife that may or may not have been the murder weapon, with Knox's DNA on it & a bra clasp found 46 days after the murder in a pile of laundry that had traces of Solliceto's DNA on it.
This was a terrible murder in which the throat was cut, the blood spatter from that sprayed the walls yet none amazingly got on any of the defendants clothing. No traces in Knox's room next door & the bloody footprint belonged to Rudy Guede. Who admitted in a recorded phone call that he acted alone but the recording was deemed inadmissible by the court
Somebody they'd never met & yet on the alledged meeting decide they decided to rape Meredith Kercher.
Your asking two teenagers to have been able to commit a murder and clear away the evidence, that would have had the writers of CSI wondering how they could have done it. Then under intense police questioning over a 30 hour period without legal representation when the police would have offered either of them deals to confess the other did it, they would have said they other accuses you of doing it but they never wavered. Even hardened cons would have buckled under that sort of pressure.
Without being in the courtroom, we'll never know everything but with the DNA evidence not so much discredited as destroyed. Had they upheld the verdict it would have been gross miscarriage of justice.
The greater injustice is to the Kercher's who's daughter death has largely been forgotten &
have themselves been given a life sentence, a life without there daughter, sister & friend.
RIP Meredith, you deserved better.

Correct me if I've got this amiss, but the Cops just presented the evidence they had? The Court found three people guilty because of it. A different Court has recently taken a different view one person is still in jail.William the White wrote:Cops hit on a lazy 'solution' again and again, and all over the world...
Why would they have gone to the trouble of seeking conviction against three people if only one had been involved? Seems the lazy approach would have been to stick at one. Probably a third of the paperwork. The volume of convictions overturned I suspect is a very small proportion of those that are correct.
I genuinely struggle to understand your problem with police. I'm sure the anarchy and survival of the fittest that would result from having no Police would be a delight. I'm equally sure that there's good and bad eggs in the police, like there are in your profession and mine.

Re: Amanda Knox
Not entirely sure it was entirely a police matter. 2 people come under suspicion as accomplices in a murder. No evidence links them to the crime until after the prosecutor gets involved, when hey presto they have new DNA proof, evidence later ruled un-sound & not allowed in court. The only person convicted of the killing at this point, see's his sentence suddenly reduced from 30 to 16 years & he now incriminates Knox & Sollicito. Why did this happen and why did the prosecutor turn what would have a been a small open & shut case into one that has grabbed the worlds attention for 4 years. Giuliano Mignini put forward a satanic orgy theory that went wrong. A theory he'd put forward before in another case the death of Dr. Narducci only this time it stuck. Was this done to further his own career or deflect from the charges of abuse of office he is still facing either way for 4 years it worked.Worthy4England wrote:Correct me if I've got this amiss, but the Cops just presented the evidence they had? If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England

The Telegraph isn't a tabloid.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
