Shouldn't you be feeding her?!
Well, that's a fair point, but everyone wants to see her so she puts on spread and we all pile round. She's the kind of woman that just loves to (over) feed people. I did take them both out on Mother's Day and Father's Day for a nosebag though. ;)
Ok, i'll let you off so long as you've bought her a really good present!
Well, unless she specifically requests something I do tend to find it a little difficult to think of what to get for a lady who turned 72 today. As such, I got her an M&S voucher so she can treat herself to whatever she likes - plus a lovely bunch of flowers, chocolates from Thorntons, and a card that I chose for the words inside (and that nearly made her blub :().

And there goes my reputation as a tough-nut. ;)
May the bridges I burn light your way

That reputation went a long time ago!

Sounds like she was spoilt! :)

so - how did plans match actualities??

what I planned to do:

get funeral sorted
sort garage

what I actually did:

failed to get far with funeral as executors were not answering phone!
fannied about on computer and TW
took dog out
had lunch
chatted to GG
made START on sorting garage
went to McD drive-through (daughter's choice as congrats for getting GCSE results) - and had to be takeaway cos I had filled car with tons of garage-junk ready to take to the tip...

Highlight of your day being, of course, chatting with me?! :D

thebish wrote:bank holidays make no odds to me as monday is my official day off anyway. I will spend some of it trying to sort out a funeral for a bloke who I have been visiting over the last couple of weeks in hospital. He is estranged from his family and has no friends and has lived like one of those hoarders you see on the telly and been horribly targetted by junk-mail scams and house-to-house roofer-scams... (he called them his "friends")

then maybe I'll finally get round to sorting out the garage so that it is transformed into half wood-workshop and half gym (with huge telly and DVD player). Currently it is crammed with all the stuff we didn't know what to do with when we moved...
REALLY?!

Do they do a veggie option, Bish (other than for loads of chips, etc.)?

I'm not a full-proper-veggie cos I eat fish... I have to have the fish thing... which tastes nothing like fish and is a bit like eating a big fat fishfinger in a bun...

but - hey - is what she wanted!! :-)

Ah, a colleague of mine is a fish-eating veggie, but she calls herself a 'Pescatarian' (sp?).

If I might be so bold - go and have a fanny about with that Tuscan fish stew recipe that I posted in the 'Eating & Drinking' thread a couple of weeks ago. Good results guaranteed. :oyea:

Lie in today. Since dog had his tooth out on Friday he hasn't been sleeping much and consequently neither have we.
Walked said dog in pouring down rain.
Tidied house
Finished book
Watched film
Came on here.

Took summer chairs back into the loft. Brought em down in May and I think we've sat out on em about twice.

What a piss poor day. I want it back ... I'm going to appeal.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Wall papering :(

Did go to Mallory Park on Sunday and wet myself watching Gerry Marshall's old Baby Bertha Vauxhall Firenza Droop Snoot, there was some impressive Hillman Imps too
My dog (proper 57) had his anal glands emptied once and yes the smell is something to behold!!
