I bought the Atari console in 1979 and it cost £175. The games were £35 each too. I wonder how that £175 compares with todays £700.ChrisC wrote:I'm in the £700 club aswell not broke it to my better half yet 6 games and other bits in that.
Re: The XBOX ONE Thread
£175 in those days is like £715 these days though isn't it, or is that totally wrong?clapton is god wrote:I bought the Atari console in 1979 and it cost £175. The games were £35 each too. I see the launch went about as smoothly as the PS4 in the US...faulty drives, scratched cases, buggered test discs and they pulled the day 1 patch from the website (which unlike Sony got them around the "website down" problem), but doesn't get you the update.ChrisC wrote:Worth every penny!
Glad you got a good 'un.

Really?
Heard about something affecting the servers for a while the night before launch but very very few problems with the consoles. Been on the Xbox support page all day looking out for potential problems.

I'm sure PS4 will have issues. It's probably why I always wait a while until I get one, let them iron out any issues....

Me too. Unless they want to pay me for testing activities. Some other bugger can test them for me!Annoyed Grunt wrote:http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/11/22/x ... e-problems

PS4 launched in the US last week - it had some problems too (although these seemed to be more to do with the availability of their website to download the latest update patch). Microsoft got round that issue, but removing their Day 1 update patch...
Re: The XBOX ONE Thread
To be honest, no matter when you get a PS4 or X1 you will get issues with the disc drives every now and again. Some PS4s arrived to people in the US dead and wouldn't turn on. Them are the kind of issues that will be less common over time.Annoyed Grunt wrote:http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/11/22/x ... e-problems

If the reports are true, the PS4 problems where down to some naughty workers who had been mistreated in the work place and decided to mess with the PS4s on the production line. Hopefully that problem is resolved now for PS4 customers
I will be getting a PS4 sometime next year when Destiny is released

There's plenty of the DVD grinding, or not reading discs. That's DoA (or DoD if you prefer).ChrisC wrote:Not seen one report of dead on delivery.
