Where in any of that is there even the faintest suggestion I've owned one, wish to own one or ever will own one ??mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:So how many Apple products have you owned?bobo the clown wrote:f'call. as ever/ Just my impeccable instincts.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:I've actually forgotten what it's based on...bobo the clown wrote:Have I ever mentioned my view of Apple ???
Just asking, in case I haven't.
Oh & that the hypocritical b'stards use every trick in the book to tie you in once you've crossed the line and entered their vice-like grip ... yet are happy to whinge when anyone does anything even close to their territory. Note the recent change of connection unit as an example of how little they care for their customers.
Tho' my brother's i-pod came my way when he passed away. He should have taken the useless fecking thing with him.

Ok. So just to be clear - your views are not based on first-hand experience?bobo the clown wrote: Where in any of that is there even the faintest suggestion I've owned one, wish to own one or ever will own one ??

Sure, but there isn't a company selling cancer to millions of satisfied customers across the world.bobo the clown wrote:To be fair, no. The whole point about Apple products is that they are easy and intuitive to use (I understand that more tech savvy people can be frustrated by their limitations). And because they shift so many of them, they are price competitive based on specs.
Now, I understand that their size, desire to manage all steps in a product's usage and image isn't to everyone's taste (I'm often a contrarian too), but given their success is based on usability, it seems a bit odd to form such strong views on their products without, erm, using some.

I don't smoke ... millions do.
I don't drink spirits ... millions do.
Not wanting something & not falling for their charms doesn't mean I'm missing out, it means I've chosen not to and, odd as this may seem to an i-head, I have other ways of achieving what I need in the area of phone & mobile internet access which don't mean I have to consort with the devil.
I condemn no-one who does, tho I feel they are swayed by the marketing phenomenon which is Apple. That's their business, just pity that, once their toe is put into that water it is difficult to extricate. Their ubiquity irritates me and the way they have bullied competors and suppliers I find unlovely.
By all means toddle off & love your Apple, but do allow me not to.

Re: Technology Thread.
Ok, so what you're describing is tantamount to a complete boycott of their products because of their corporate boorishness.
That's fair enough.
But, simply as a matter of logic, you are not in a position to write them off as a mere 'marketing phenomenon' if you have not evaluated the main reason for their products' success yourself.
(Do they even do much advertising these days? And when they do, is it more than a picture/demonstration of the product?)

The Review of the iPhone 5 is now up on T3.com (Widely regarded as one of the best tech magazines in the world)
Excerpt from article:
"Given that iPhone 4S users can upgrade to iOS 6 and do just about everything the iPhone 5 can do, and that Android users can get similarly impressive handsets for less dosh, we reckon the smart money won’t all be going on a new iPhone this year, even if the mass market can’t get enough of it. It’s good, very good. But it’s no longer the best around."

Re: Technology Thread.
Meh, following the technology thread I got a Blackberry Curve. Cheap as cheaps, does what I want, and more, for less than I was paying. Not touch screen, QWERTY keyboard, e-mails from my one proper account. Couldn't be happier (were happiness defined as how satisfied you were with your phone). I know the iphone is better (she has one) but I don't need it. Never understood the tribalism with phones.

aye - me too... there's nothing I want to do that the blackberry doesn't do very well. that's all i need from a phone.
it sends texts
it has blackberry messenger
it gives me the BBC championship scores mobile page
it phones people
it stores contact info
it synchs flawlessly with my google calendar and sends me reminders if I need them
it costs me £13 a month including all the calls and internet access I need (and more)
it links to wifi or 3G
it takes passable photos (if I want a quality photo I will use my proper camera)
what else would I need a phone for???

^ All of the above only mine doesn't cost me anything. I might call you from it to remind you of this. Repeatedly.
