aye - probably - but, then, if you believe the Tories WON'T raise VAT - then look up the word "gullible" in the dictionary - you'll find it's not there....

May the bridges I burn light your way

I for one always believe Tory pre-election promises on VAT. Like last time.

In fairness, it did take them all the way from election day to the next budget (which was almost two months later)Prufrock wrote:I for one always believe Tory pre-election promises on VAT. Like last time.

Anyhoo, I've just been in the back of a London cab, with a cabbie who wanted to talk about the election debate and Europe...That ended well...

I did wonder at one point....you don't drive a cab do you? He couldn't answer any of the questions I asked him either.Hoboh wrote:He chucked you out? That election debate has just reminded me to book the date off work, so I've no excuse not to vote. No, honest. Really.

So that was lots of David Cameron not answering questions. I thought he did that now? Nice sixth form presentation. Especially when he spoke to that disabled woman like she was a child.

I'm on +1 after Reece and Steve, not expecting much from Ed.

I don't think either acquitted themselves particularly well. As an aside, for David, regarding "The Black Spider" letters "This is about the principle that senior members of the royal family are able to express their views to the government confidentially. I think most people would say that's fair enough" No, David, not here we wouldn't. I'm fairly ambivalent about the royals, but they should butt out of politics, unless the topic is around their ambassadorial role...

Rich from someone who has never been able to give a definitive answer to the benefits of European membership except the usual airy fairy hand wavingWorthy4England wrote:I did wonder at one point....you don't drive a cab do you? I wouldn't fancy Cameron or Cleggs chances either! It was Millibands weakest and cheesiest bit when he tried to pretend he was tough in answer to that questionHoboh wrote:Still looks and sounds like someone Putin would eat as a snack though!Harry Genshaw wrote:Milliband did far better than I thought he would.

Re: Politics, The Election May 2015
In a normal world ( normal world, note!) it might be expected that a man who has just spent four years or so learning to be a prime minister and run the country, should effectively be preferable to others who just spent the same period throwing eggs at him. Just saying.
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?
Re: Politics, The Election May 2015
not a criticism of you tango - but you used a phrase that often makes me ponder...
the idea that the prime minister "runs the country" is (I think) a bit ludicrous... the PM doesn't run the country in any meaningful sense - 99% of the country runs itself... the PM is powerless in most respects to run any of it... (thankfully!!)
