Trains. Recently I have had to use our wonderful public transport network to get to work. This week has been shit. Tuesday - train cancelled, next one not for hour n half. Went long way still didn't get home while half 8.
Then yesterday actually managed to get train on time, signal/points failure. Sat on it for an hour then it decided to take me back to Castleford. Got home at 9.
I'm now too tired to even get properly angry.
Good job there was a pub nearby on the first day.

Hours fun to be had sitting in Kro watching all freaks that pass thru the gardens! especially in summer when they're all drinking and sunbathing on the grass - some right sights!as wrote:Piccadilly Gardens - looks awful, full of dole-dossers, and it has a single-mum mafia that seem to enjoy smacking your ankles with a pram containing their little angels - f**k off.

Politicians........saw some of the budget thing yesterday, the way they all behave in the house of commons is pathetic, its like a load of kids argueing over ice cream!
And why can't they actually answer a question directly instead of going off on a tangent or telling us what the other lot would do
No wonder people are disinterested, don't really know what any of them stand for and don't trust them to keep their word anyway
Shoot em all

My dog (proper 57) had his anal glands emptied once and yes the smell is something to behold!!

Have to say I listened to it on the radio yesterday and had exactly the same thought.Raven wrote:Politicians........saw some of the budget thing yesterday, the way they all behave in the house of commons is pathetic, its like a load of kids argueing over ice cream!

Its pointless, the same question asked 10 times and failed to be answered 10 times.
There is far better debate on here than in the "house".
And then there is the "awwwww thats not fair we thought of it first, miss miss miss they're copying us, tell em miss" which just makes me want to finish what Guy Fawkes tried to start!

The last time we were in Manchester I took my daughter to the City Art Gallery to look at the pre-Raphaelites exhibits. We happened to come across the Lowry depiction of Piccadilly Gardens which largely represented my memories of it still in the early to mid '80's.as wrote:Piccadilly Gardens - looks awful, full of dole-dossers, and it has a single-mum mafia that seem to enjoy smacking your ankles with a pram containing their little angels - f**k off.
Coming back towards Victoria Station from the gallery I couldn't believe how much the real thing had changed!

You watch something like this and think: And this lot are in charge of our country? Gives one great confidence in our leadership. Mind you, it's a bit too early to judge. The present lot have only had three hundred years practise. Give em time.Raven wrote:Politicians........saw some of the budget thing yesterday, the way they all behave in the house of commons is pathetic, its like a load of kids argueing over ice cream!

It's terribly nice to see that we down here have inherited the spirit of the Westminster parliamentary system as well as its precedents.
Whilst it is rare I do sometimes watch Question Time, which is broadcast by our ABC (not unlike the BBC). I don't know why I subject myself to it to be honest. A debate between eleven-year olds would probably be more interesting as at least I'd see people trying to make a point without the speaker (not the adjudicator) smirking, making grandiose gestures and team members constantly interjecting.
One thing that does amuse me, and it happens all the time, is those who repeat a phrase - I think that thrice is the norm. Does it happen in your place? You might know the ploy: "Mr Speaker, I would point out to the member for XXXXXX that it was his comment, his comment Mr Speaker, his comment which . . . "
I would dearly love to hear a decent debate/discussion between speakers for each and every party in our parliament which included proper facts and figures, no personal 'point scoring' and that also gave the impression that the debate was not some form of game for the gullible.

Politics is just a game Dujon, don't hold your breath. You may or may not have heard the recent "cash for favours" scandal regarding some of our MP's. Frankly, they don't give a shit about anyone but their own agrandisement and self enrichment.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

To follow on from the previous: Policemen and Policewomen.
No, not them in particular, just the way they are often treated. Just a few days ago we had a situation where a well known 'minor' criminal decided to ignore a police request to stop. He didn't. As one would expect the police decided to follow him and pull him over. Because he was driving erratically and at high speed the police called off the pursuit.
A minute or so later he ran another red light, collided with another vehicle and killed himself and put his girlfriend into intensive care. He also killed the three people travelling in the vehicle with which he collided.
This stupid twit was driving a stolen car; he had a criminal record as long as my arm; he didn't have a licence to drive; he had stolen cars before; he was a bloody idiot; he had only just recovered from injuries sustained in a similar event nine months ago.
His mother came out with the statement (I'm paraphrasing) 'He was a good lad and I think that the police have a lot to answer for'. I'm being kind there as I think she accused the police of being the aggressors and persecutors. What, what, what!
