I ran a 10k race today and finished in 44:01. That's not even 4:00 minutes per km!

Hatfield Broad Oak Flattish for the most part. Bit of a climb between 6k and 8k but I'm good on hills and gained a few places. 15 seconds outside my pb and 1m 15 seconds quicker than the 10k I raced on Thursday.
Getting back to form.

ever had the shame of going to a crowded urinal line - try for 2 or 3 mins - have nothing come out - and have to zip up and leave???Bruce Rioja wrote:Takes me 4 mins for my piss to turn up!Wandering Willy wrote:Takes me 4 mins to get to the toilet at the moment.Gary the Enfield wrote:Gooner Girl wrote:Theres hope for all you old boys yet...![]()

Perhaps we should have an 'old gimmers moan about their aches and pains and problematic toileting habits' thread?! Cos there really is such a thing as TMI...

Re: The athletics/running thread
Don't think I've ever zipped up and left, but yeah, when someone stands directly next to me, then as soon as they're gone - whooooosh! At the match I have to be absolutely bursting before I'll even attempt. My match-buddy queues for the cubicles for this very reason.thebish wrote: ever had the shame of going to a crowded urinal line - try for 2 or 3 mins - have nothing come out - and have to zip up and leave???

Just done a fell race over Winter Hill & the Pike. Got sunburnt doing it this time last year. Up at the transmitter it was hailstone at 45 degrees
Muddy, wet & treacherous and an absolute bargain at £3

There are varying degrees of mental Harry. You're the nth.

Wasn't expecting to lead a group last night but given a choice of 9 miles at 8 minute pace or 7 miles at 9 minute pace I decided to head off and do 7.5 miles at 8.30 pace (recovery run after my Hatfield 10k). 9 others joined me of roughly similair ability. Even though it was still raining and the park was soaked we ended up going across fields, down farm paths and footpaths for most off the run (about 1 mile was on actual road), and with a fair few hills thrown in too.
We staggered back, group intact after just over the hour mark having done an average 8:15 pace throughout. Cold, wet, muddy but happy runners. I love the british summertime.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Was supposed to go for a run with a friend this evening but she turned up having lost her training kit and suggested a power walk instead. Feeling a little like old women we went off through the nature reserve, over the field and back down the village high street and over the common. Not far but convinced me that rather then being obsessed with improving my time over flat pavements i would really rather run in the countryside. Plus watching my footing and the extra balancing involved running off road might strengthen my core more and help my flabby tummy. One can hope anyway...
