Re: The Politics Thread
I watch US College Football on YouTube. The Republicans have an advert on air, at prime time that is nothing but an Anti-Trans tirade. How it's been aired is beyond me - "Don't let these people brainwash our kids" etc. It's fvckin awfulWorthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 9:07 amPolicy free, playground name calling, for the easy pleased. But this is the world we live in now. Nobody cares what you have to say about yourself, it's all about making other people look like shit

Farage forgot his freebies from Aaron Banks, Richard Harborne and spending office funding on campaigning, has he?

They'll need to be calling him two-term Keir now.

He's already blown that mate, won't be long before certain groups in his party set off removing him, more so if Robbers budget goes down as expected, then labours chances will fade away.

I see Khan and Pixie Balls are in the firing line now, pressuring the MET for blue light escorts for Swifty. As "elites go," no shade around Banks, Harborne and Farage is there? Men of the people.

Re: The Politics Thread
Reform can’t win the next election they simply don’t have the broad appeal across the groups in the electorate they need. They could force a hung parliament.
However I’m relatively confident Labour will win now next time round as the Tories have resisted a solid candidate for one (whoever it is) who is scrabbling around in the same desperate pool of populism as reform. Which means the right is split in terms of the votes it is fighting for.
Labour will need to ride out two or three tough years but if they change the fiscal rules to allow for greater investment and get the economy moving via their growth fund and shove the proceeds into public services the situation in 5 years against the opposition they face still favours them. But lots can and will happen in 5 years of course.

Chances of Jenrick or Badenoch making it to the next GE is probably fairly slim.

Very true. Which was my ‘lots can happen’ in 5 years.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 2:59 pmChances of Jenrick or Badenoch making it to the next GE is probably fairly slim.
Mordaunt returns as an MP and becomes leader…I’d not be very confident for Labour in that scenario, at all.

Lets hope Labour stop making stupid errors and actually do something useful over the next few years. It wont then matter who the Tories try to inflict upon us thenBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 3:52 pmVery true. They won't stop making stupid mistakes under free gear, you only need to look at the idiots sat around the cabinet table to see that.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 4:17 pmLets hope Labour stop making stupid errors and actually do something useful over the next few years. I'll stick to what I said pre-election, there is virtually no one from any party worth voting for. Everyone has faults but it seems to be a specialist subject for politicians.

I see the 22 billion black hole is somehow expanding to a 40 billion black hole with still no explanation to its makeup.

Re: The Politics Thread
Interesting reporting on the Chris Kaba case today, with the release of all the information about his gangsta activities. Yesterday his family made no mention of them and asked they be not released - wonder why? - you'd think he was a mistaken angel who helped old ladies with their shopping. It's right we examine incidents involving the police shooting citizens, but maybe spare us some of the indignation, when the citizen involved is a gun toting thug and hardly sat there saying "Fair cop, guv."

Re: The Politics Thread
22bn is projected in year overspend. The 40Bn figure is the amount of public spending cuts the previous government have baked into plans across the period of the next spending review.
It’s completely different numbers meaning completely different things. Not reflect the total mess our economy has become since Brexit. You should be apologising and grovelling instead of throwing figures around that you clearly don’t understand.
