That'll do now

Lost 4 stones and started running since the beginning of January

Just want to see how quick I can do 5k now
Impressive stuff. Seriously. Get yourself down the Parkrun.
Seconded. Thats a pretty good 10k time on a tough course - but the weight loss - wow

I think I'd be better at Bolton fan baiting then dwarf throwing ;)

Apparently this guy has also got the world record for throwing the iPod as well :conf: but he said how far it was in yards - 134 i think it was, which means nothing to me, being young, perhaps someone elderly, GtE? would care to translate for us youngsters?

Tsk. I make a genuine suggestion as an experienced athletics coach, as to how you might improve your olympic chances, and all you can do is fling abuse at me!!!

My comments were more to do with the endless pages of you both referring to one as being old, and to the other as being short. It's just wearing a little thin now, but hey, on you go. ;)

We're easily amused. The abuse throwing is normally confined to this thread, you can avoid it if you want!

Right Brucie, no substitute for hard work.

Week One

Tuesday

Out and Back

Run for 21 mins in one direction (try and include some hills)
Turn around and run back in 20 (n.b. If you're back quicker you ran too slow out)

Thursday

Run for an hour. Whatever pace you like just make sure it's and hour and don't stop

Saturday

Parkrun. Set your time and look to beat it next week

Week two

Tuesday

Pyramid session. Find a flat piece of ground. After a 5 minute warmup, run at effort for 200 metres or 45 seconds, rest 30 seconds(jog recovery) effort 400 metres / (2 minutes) rest 45 seconds. Effort 600 metres (3 minutes) 1 minute recovery. Effort 800 metres (4 minutes) 1:30 recovery then 600 then 400 then 200. 5 minutes warm down jog

Thursday

Run for an hour the same route as last week. See how much further you run.

Saturday

Parkrun

Do this twice and let me know how you get on. Remember to warm up with a gentle jog and stretch when you're finished.

Crack on.

Blimey, you're a hard task master GtE! Not sure he has ever run for an hour before and he's just starting back! Glad you're not my coach! ;)

Now jump to it Bruce.

Thanks fella. That's the sort of thing I need. I'll do another 3K (minimum) in the morning to start and will of course let you know how I get on.

Decided to let myself sleep for as long as I needed to last night/this morning - slept for 12 hours

My sincere apologies to you and GG if I came across as a miserable old sod last night. Turns out I was a tired miserable old sod ;)
