Went to Fanny's for Sunday Lunch. Eurgh, yuppie central, and average food. Saw David Dunn as I was coming out, resisted the urge to recommend the chicken.

Also, Friday, Pizza Hut Buffet for the first time in YEARS. Was good. Saturday, that Chiquitos, lot better than I expected, pork belly was ace. Food-tastic weekend.

They do a decent pint of Tim Taylor's down Fannys though.

Pork belly was ace? not just flab with tiny strips of not worthwhile meat in there somewhere, then?

No, was a piece maybe 6" by 4. Two long, thin bits of fat through it, and the rest meat. With red mash and haricot beans in a spicy tomato sauce. Honestly, for a chain restaurant, I was really really impressed. Missus had scampi wrap which was nice too. 20% off voucher as well.

Put some chicken strips in a non-specific but tasty marinade consisting of olive oil, soy sauce, dry sherry, red chilli and tabasco and left in fridge for about five hours.

Ate in a wrap with gherkins, jalapenos, lettuce, more red chilli and yogurt...

Had to stop halfway to get rid of the heat-induced hiccups... Mouth still burning... in a nice way... a little cool red rioja helping...

There are days when I love this kind of food... today is one...

Fish tagine - so good, so spicy... Haddock marinaded in chermoula, cooked in the tagine with carrots, celery, fish stock and cumin, coriander, mint and preserved lemons, chilli other stuff...

Mmmmm....

Family meal tonight and by request wife did roast-beef, Yorkshire puds, peas, carrots, boiled and roast spuds, cauliflower and gravy. Followed it up with strawberries over Black Forest gatteau. Nice.

On the main drag opposite where ICI used to be try whatever you want and if the man himself is in he'll talk food all night, offered to let Mrs H (who is a cook) go in the kitchen and help make our curries next time we visit.
