Re: Brexit or Britin
I see the doom mongers on our exit are now claiming there is a good chance there may be a recession down the line because the melt down never happened.
Of course it MAY happen, it MAY snow in winter, BWFC MAY in a major trophy again one day.

Well it wouldn't happen yet, would it? We MAY sign Article 50, but we haven't.Hoboh wrote:I see the doom mongers on our exit are now claiming there is a good chance there may be a recession down the line because the melt down never happened.

Right on both counts, it seems, so far.worthy much earlier in the thread wrote:My main reason for staying isn't money. It's more about trading conditions. As it stands bedwetters' commentary relating to the CE report and others has some merit - at a macro-economic level the shift might not be monumental. At a sector level it could be significant (as evidenced by the report he's happy to quote as the bible). That report also acknowledges that much of the red tape may still need to be in place, the FS sector might lose it's passport etc. etc. all these elements are minimised by the report regarding their impact at a macro-economic level whilst highlighting the possibly's, maybe's and might be's at a sector level. Well yes, if my aunt had balls etc. Great for investment fund managers.
So my main beef has and shall remain that I want to know what the conditions will be outside for trade. I do also want to know what we're going to do about Immigration - set out a policy - tell folks what they're voting for.
I don't expect much of this to come out during the next few months. Rather, I expect a continuation of hyperbole, huff, bluster, accusation and name calling.

I thought Portugal had been our ally since the Treaty of Windsor (1386) which is still in force. John of Gaunt's daughter became Queen of Portugal and let us set up wine warehouses in Porto. So they gave us gout perhaps but were useful against Napoleon.Lord Kangana wrote:Yeah, but where's the historical precedent for us having continental allies?

We will have two ourselves in the not too distant future.
The French are the only other EU country alongside us and with an honourable mention for the Dutch that the EU relies on for it's defence.
The Italians are a joke who play when they want too, Spain and Portugal are useless and the disgrace of the Germans hiding under the skirt of NATO, well!

I'm more interested in why there is no mention of immediate deportation for these nice people when their sentence ends?
Of course with their scummy mummy and parasite fathers (if around at all) being here it will effect their human fecking rights! Roll on article 50 when we can pick who comes here.

A decade without a carrier borne strike force. I think we owe them a decade back, don't we? Or is it only foreigners who are dishonourable, and it's acceptable for us to rely on others without redress and rebalance?

I recall our reliance on some EU members to be good allies cost us some warships with our carriers then the main target if you want to be pedantic!Lord Kangana wrote:A decade without a carrier borne strike force. I don't recall us having to rely on the French carrier at any point since it's been sailing

The French have been fulfilling our role . - you know bombing ISIS and stuff - in that decade. Shameful behaviour on our behalf, wouldn't you agree, relying on others to shoulder the burden?
Is there any point having this discussion when you seem to know so little about it?

I must have imagined we had an RAF base in Cyprus then, how forgetful, clever dick.

Re: Brexit or Britin
No, not imagined. We do have bases. Just like we have Nuclear weapons. But what were they being used for when the French were carrying out strikes on our behalf? (hint; you may want to google some of this stuff).

Hint, are you clearly forgetting for a long period of time we were not operating in Syria for political reasons?Lord Kangana wrote:No, not imagined. We do have bases. The French, as I alluded too before, are not afraid to spend on their defence force or use it, the question you should be asking is why the mega rich Germans don't do more alongside other with the other backsliders in the EU?
Comes to something when our Typhoons are protecting Baltic countries airspace!

Re: Brexit or Britin
Yeah, there was some sort of restriction with them acting as anything more than a defence force. ISTR, that some minor changes were affected during the Balkan Wars of the 90's.
Also bear in mind they don't spend on nuclear, and that conventional figure is not as far off ours as you might think.

Re: Brexit or Britin
Anyway, this discussion is the usual load of ignorant old nonsense. We're fifth in the world in terms of defence spending. With any one of our major European partners we can match the spending of the two higher than us, Russia and Saudia Arabia, but unless you group together as Europe, we've not a f*cking prayer (even if France and Germany matched our spending) of competing with China and the USA.
Which would, of course, ignore the most pressing point. Which major nation is going to invade which other major nation with so many nuclear weapons in the world?

Wow.
So we're giving the example of an historically Euro-sceptic politician to show how we should co-operate more (or less, I'm f*cking lost with the cock-eyed logic on display here) with our continental allies?
