The way the GB Olympian competitors are going I think it's time that the England and Wales mob announced that each England player involved in winning a game shall be awarded a gold medal. That should ensure victory in this game, regardless of the weather.

Anyway, a good solid performance from the team regardless of the rather small first innings lead. Looking at the score card it looks like Prior (no doubt not trusting the tail) got stuck into the bowling and dragged the score over that psychological line. I suppose that time now will be the biggest factor; will the South Africans dawdle for a draw or will they try to pile on runs, declare, and challenge England to dare? I don't think S.A. will dawdle, it's not in their usual nature, but, then again . . .

Well, if the weather in Leeds is anything like it is here then there'll be no play today. :(

I only found out today that cricket's World Cup is in progress. Not only that, it's being hosted at a number of grounds in Queensland! Why wasn't I told? Anyway it's the under-19s competition. I'm going to keep an eye on the results (the BBC's got them on its site) as, surely, there will be young men on display who will be future test players.

Liked this from Boycott

Gave it a good shot in the end.

Have to accept that SA are a better side than we are currently.

Pietersen situation hardly helped.

anyway - c'mon boys and girls!!

England come back from one down in the one dayers to a 2-1 lead - pieterson-less - thrashing the Saffers yesterday (thanks to Bell) by 6 wickets with overs to spare....

we are back at the top of the 1-day tree. :pissed:

also - well done Tredwell (and Kieswetter) for the THREE stumpings!

Well, what a fizzer the last game turned out to be. It was, to be sure, a dreadful result for a team with aims of domination of the one-day game. I am rather disappointed. Pah!
