Here's one that'll be controversial.

Marvin Gaye.

OK, he had his 'Grapevine' stuff, but that was just part of the Motown machine. Then his 'What's Goin' On' and 'Let's Get It On' which are over-hyped shite soon after which he made the ultimate career move of dying and is now considered untouchable.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Also known as 'Doing a Hendrix' - another one I could never fathom.

There's something wrong with you man, seek imminent help!!

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

A musical version of Swiss Tony. Pure schmaltz. Makes me gag.

Crap band. Saw them supporting at a Foo Fighters gig I got dragged to at the Etihad . Foo Fighters were better than I expected from their generally insipid catalogue, manics looked like they couldn't be arsed. also saw them In Wolverhampton in 94 when they were the next big thing. Boring.

Is there a better video around that the FF's 'Pretender'??

Worst over-hyped band Ive ever seen was the Pigeon Detectives a few years back at T4 on the beach. The lead singer couldn't even be ar5ed to mime in time and he appeared to be absolutely smashed out of his skull.

I don't really see many music videos, but that is a good one. And not a bad song. They are not a bad band, but that's just damning them with faint praise I suppose. That Learning To Fly video was pathetic on the other hand.
I want to like them, Dave Grohl was very engaging on stage, but they just send me to sleep.
