Bolton School blazers always went down a treat in Halliwell... Particularly popular with the rough boys of Whitecroft Road...TANGODANCER wrote:I wore one at 14, but you legged it home rapido off the bus and got changed. Things like that were a serious health hazard up Halliwell.ratbert wrote:I went to Withins. No-one wore blazers there!

Never had a problem with mine in Adlington. Worst was a bit of verbal bashing with the most astounding lack of wit I think I have ever heard. Friend of mine was walking home with his blazer on, the crest of which for those who don't know is a big cockerel, a big massive cockerel, or cock for short, if you like, on the blazer. My friend is accosted by a would-be comedian, who points at the badge with a look of amusement in his eye, 'here we go' thinks my friend, another lovely tired joke about cocks... 'here, mate' the other boy begins, 'is that a chicken on your blazer? hahahahah you've got a chicken on your blazer hahaha'. Wonderful.William the White wrote:Bolton School blazers always went down a treat in Halliwell... But never any trouble, which I find surprising, given, as we all know, kids these days are a bunch of hoodie wearing knife brandishing hoodlums, with no respect, whereas back in the day everything was sunshine and light, and nobody never did nothing wrong because we all knew old Hargreaves the grocer would give us a clip if he caught us scrumping any apples. It were a more innocent time I tell you. [/i]
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

saw half of one the other day for the very first time - they were camping somewhere - was basically a vehicle for them not very amusingly hitting each other - about as funny as a nasty groin rash. (though I may be missing a subtle sub-plot?) anyway - had to turn it off due to extreme tedium...Prufrock wrote:Really? You were there? Are you a re-incarnation?Prufrock wrote: , whereas back in the day everything was sunshine and light, and nobody never did nothing wrong because we all knew old Hargreaves the grocer would give us a clip if he caught us scrumping any apples. Till you turned sixteen and started doing the town, ties were only worn for church and school photos. Death by strangulation could have occurred.

Aye, but St Josephs had already moved by then. Used to be in Hobart Street, only a couple of hundred yards away from our mortal enemies. One being a Catholic school and the other a Protestsant one didn't help relations much. Just another reason for everything from snowball fights to more serious issues. Anyway, bck on track, watched Bolton get cheated out of at least a point last night.as wrote:Oxford Grove for me - before they knocked it down and moved it next door to St Josephs anyway.TANGODANCER wrote:Try Brownlow Fold for unfriendly natives of all associated with St Josephs.as wrote:Whitecroft?
