Hadn't seen it since it's launch, even though I have it on DVD. Until tonight. Forgotten exactly how good it is. Just coming up to what I remember as the most striking cinematic moment I'd ever seen - the disco scene. The way that strobe focusses on the main focus of the picture? Wow.
And that's only remembering it from eight years ago. Not even on screen yet.
EDIT: Yeah, just seen it. As mind-blowing as it was when I first saw it.

you should check out the sequel too, "City of Men" I think - not as good as the first of course, and certainly dosent have the same impact, but still good.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Hadn't seen it since it's launch, even though I have it on DVD. Now then, Genius of Design on BBC2.
I'm 5 minutes in and I'm already p*ssed off with the inaccuracy of it historically. Such as the lie that The German Economy was designed for war. No. No it wasn't, the Germans had the highest standard of living of all the beligerants up until 1943, whenn they finally realised it might be an idea to have a war economy.
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest, was really looking forward to this programme. Harrummmph.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Not a patch on the original version with Lawrence Harvey.Bruce Rioja wrote:If anyone ever asks me to describe an average film, I will hand forth my copy of said Manchurian Candidate.Lord Kangana wrote:Ooh, oooh, The Manchurian candidate is on channel 4. Nice surprise.

The question is - if they are rehearsed, how come he made himself look like such a tit?! I mean, I like the guy normally, but that answer to Dermot was a shocker.TANGODANCER wrote:An Audience with Michael Buble. Great singer but these audiences are so off-putting. Full of "celebrities " asking questions that are obviously rehearsed. Much better if it had been Michael Buble in Concert. Great backing band in the old dance-band style.

Thoroughly reasonable question from O'Leary:TANGODANCER wrote:Went to the bathroom and must have missed that bit. "Hey Michael, great show etc etc
Say, what with you being a worldwide star now, how do you keep your feet on the ground?"
Bublé:
"Well mainly my good looks and intelligence.
And to call my stardom 'worldwide' is a bit of an understatement... I'd say I'm universal... I'm bigger than Jesus Christ!"
And that's it - no more. No "but seriously, I've got a lot of great friends from way back who keep me grounded" - nothing!
