Anyone ever done Centreparcs?

Just weighing it up for Easter, for the three of us, for 3 nights at the Sherwood one is £800... EIGHT HUNDRED QUID!?!?!

might look into a different weekend but whats it like, whats the craic? i know nothing about the places, it just looks like an excercise in fleecing people to me, extras extras extras? i would hate that. eight hundred fecking quid, shit the bed.

might look into a different weekend but whats it like, whats the craic? i know nothing about the places, it just looks like an excercise in fleecing people to me, extras extras extras? i would hate that. eight hundred fecking quid, shit the bed.

I've looked at them before - but (for our budget) they always look massively expensive...

im not even sure if in includes all the activities? you read the reviews tho and there are not many with a bad word to say. also ive checked again, the average cost for 3 nights is about £400, which sounds alright tbf. but i dont wanna have to keep shelling out every five minutes, that would piss me right off.

Some family of ours went to Centre Parks late last year in Penrith. Cost them an arm and a leg in extras and their food bill was just ridiculous, massively expensive bar and restaurant apparently.

I've just found a great deal for this summer with 3 nights in Kuala Lumpur, 3 in Cambodia near to Angkor Wat and then 8 nights on the beach in Penang. Now, if I can just persuade Not Mrs Bob that this is a great idea..................

Pal of mine has been to Centre Parks a couple of times as his missus won't fly anywhere.

Cust him a fortune for sub-standard digs. No meals included & no extras like bike hire or acitivities (which are all vastly overpriced). He said a 2 course meal for him and his missus with a bottle of wine along with a kiddies meal for his little u'n was setting him back £100 a pop.

He also told he went to the site shop to get some beers. £8 for 4 cans of Carslberg.. He bit the bullet and thought he'd watch a film with the wife after his daughter went to bed. Film: £7.99...

Have heard its expensive, but for once we can go out of school term time which brings the price down a fair bit. Swimming is included and we would go every day so that would be 5 mornings entertainment free. A friend of mine reccommended Bluestone(?) in Wales as something similar but cheaper. Need to check that out.

Rather than Centre Parcs GG, I can highly recommend South Wales, around Tenby to you. A decent cottage or B and B would cost you around 50-60 quid a night and the beaches are fantastic for kids. We had a long weekend there late last year, it was cheap to eat out and there's lots to see and do for not a lot of money (Folly Farm is amazing for kids and a snip).

We went to St Davids area a few years back and that was lovely. We usually do the rented cottage thing (stayed in an old railyway waiting room conversion on the Isle of Wight last year - was fab) was just wondering about doing something different. The problem is with Wales is that its quite a far away and taking two toddlers on a long car journey is not up there on my Favourite things to do list.

.... & oh, UK, but not TOO far away & can be lovely & lots of cottages & good value out of school hols ... try East Angular. The Broads especially.

Unless you're inviting us all to come stay with you in Wales Bobo?! You could be our live in nanny and watch the kids whilst Mr GG and i chill out. Perfect solution. You're practically retired now anyway!

For that price (can $1400) you could spend a week for two in Cuba or the Dominican Republic, with airfare, food and all you can drink included. Not sure if the same deals available in the UK, of course, but the DR was full of Brits..

Well, you don't have to associate with them! I certainly didn't. I was just trying to figure out whether it was an economic holiday for you guys as well as us. By all means go to over-priced Centreparcs (whatever they are) and avoid the council estate riff raff. Cuba was $100 per person more but no Brits.

First two are great but see if you can swap the beach bit from Penang (lovely and interesting island but not a good beach in sight) with Langkawi (very quiet & very beauiful).
