Re: General Chit Chat
a question i should google and will but wanted to ask...
what's the protocol for getting 'old' injuries checked out? Played football a couple of weeks ago and landed on my hand, was pretty sure i'd broken my finger but gave it a day to see how it was. Seemed fine the day after apart from being a bit achy so just thought nowt of it. Been nearly two weeks now though and it's still bothersome: It'll hurt if i pick up anything of a decent weight with my left hand and when i curl (is that the right term) my finger up tight the top of the knuckles aches quite a bit.
I ask as obviously it's not an A+E job, but i would wonder if a GP would even bother with something like that? I dunno, it'll probably go away tomorrow.

No GP I've ever had has been interested in that sort of thing. Rest and ibruprofen is as much as you'll get. If there is a walk-in unit with x-ray equipment that might be your best bet. There is a minor injuries unit in Roehampton that sorted me out when I busted a metatarsal and had ligament damage. Very quick and set-up to deal with breaks, sprains etc. Lost count how many times I thought I'd broken a finger playing basketball back in my yoof. I used to just tape them up after getting the injury. They all still work over 20 years on, so must have worked. Knees are a different matter thoughmrkint wrote:a question i should google and will but wanted to ask...

Gutted. My U13 footy girls got knocked out of the tourno semi final in the last minutes of extra time 1-0 after storming their group stages. My little Brighton and Hove Albion midfield dynamo was distraught! Ah well, they had a whale if a time and that's the main thing.

Just need to persuade the head of dept that the girls should be doing more football and less hockey and netball. Think I'm up against it. I might start a girls football club though.LeverEnd wrote:Unlucky. They'll be back.Gooner Girl wrote:Gutted. Oh ... & well done, very creative.

give a man a bicycle you'll keep him cold for 8miles... give a man a motorbike and you'll keep him warm for the rest of his life (all 8miles of it..)Annoyed Grunt wrote:No, I'd probably end up killing myself on a motorbike......thebish wrote:ANSWER: get a motorbike with heated grips! you can go faster, further and keep your fingers warm!Annoyed Grunt wrote:That was a cold bike ride this morning....lost the feeling in my fingers, so gave up after only 8 miles.....
