I don't even know where to start on this one.
It's the kid's name ffs. How can they refuse to put it on when they're advertising to do that? Lunacy.
Very true.
Lesser issues are the fact that she posed for one of those 'sad face' photos that shit papers do, and that she called her kid after that bellend in the first place!
All true, but shame for the kid. Mind you, it could have been worse if she'd called him Bilbo or Gollum.
You may have a point, but I disagree on principle.
Entirely correctly, the stupid cow.

Now sure how I'd feel if he had a proper name. Probably that it was a bit bollocks. There's a solicitors in Horwich called 'Best & Scholes' (which I always thought was a bit sus), so spose they'd be fecked too. If they wanted an Easter Egg for their firm. Which they probably don't, tbf.

Normal, every-day use of a name can't be copyright, Shirley ? (Shirley, ha. See what I did there ?)

That all said the mother deserves all the life-problems she's brought upon herself ... & the child should be in the "care" of social services.

Without checking I'm pretty sure you can't copyright a name.

Some of them have it written in a specific font with a logo etc, like Bale has that weird hand thing he does for a goal celebration, but yeah, not a name.

The daft cow.

Loving Thorntons staff in Bury coming up with it though. Nah, can't love, bloody copyright law.

Did tosspot do the same with "Ronaldo 7"?

Not just the name but something else that goes with it.

I recall what may well have simply been made-up paper talk but Posh Spice trying to Copyright the term 'Posh'.

There's no such thing as 'copyrighting' anything.

In all countries where the Berne Convention applies, copyright is automatic, and is not obtained through any kind of registration.

So the active concept of 'copyrighting' something doesn't really exist.

He can't.

He could try and register it as trademark, or sue anyone falsely claiming endorsement from him for the tort of passing off, I suppose.

I have no idea, but the article doesn't mention a trade mark.

Looking through some old pics of Farnworth, online, I was reminded of the quite fantastic art deco edifice that used to be Farnworth bus terminal. I'd forgotten all about it but remember it well although I'm a bit foggy as to its location as I didn't live there then. (I've got a feeling it was somewhere near the present one) Built in 1923 it was demolished at the whim of town councillors in 1967 (improvements, you know) when I'd be late twenties. Quite tragic really

would that be the market then just on the right (the building in front of the chimney), if it's where the current one is?

Pretty cool to see it look like that, particularly given the shambles it is now.

Could well be, but I'm struggling hard to remember mate, because it's almost fifty years back since it was flattened. Like I said, although I've lived here over thirty years now, Farnworth wasn't a place I visited much back then apart from friday nights at Smoky Joes, The Queens and The Monaco (later Blighty's) . I remember the 42 bus from Bolton was Walkden and the 43 Farnworth but the destinations were always more important than the trips.

I thought the old market had a lower, flatter roof - could that building be the railway station (would make sense...)? I was never at the bus station. My memory is oit too good after fifty years either.
