Saying anything bad about Sir Geoffrey is beyond treason for me. Nobody in the world speaks as much sense as that man, albeit he does it in his own unique bitter way.Bruno wrote:He's certainly doing a fine job in the commentary box. Better than bloody Lloyd or Boycott embarrassing themselves.TANGODANCER wrote:Warne decribed Pietersen as a "walking ego". Not bad Shane, but then you'd know a bit about that.

What a magnificent day of cricket - even the weather gods were kind. I finally turned off the television at something-past-three in the morning and then couldn't get to sleep, so, yet again, I haven't slept for more than 24 hours. I can't keep it up (settle, boys) for much longer as it's playing hell with my health.
Thanks again to Johnson's wayward bowling the Englanders had a ball. I suspect that if Lee is even half fit by the start of the third test poor Mitchell will be consigned to 12th man - at best. It was nice to see the Australanders stick to their guns and capture a few of the enemy before stumps were drawn (settle boys).
Anyway it was the Englanders' day - and deservedly so, so I look forward to this evening's battle.

Thats what they pointed out in the after match analysis. Pretty much saying that the Aussies have got Bopora, Prior and Flintoff worked out.jimbo wrote:Paul Collingwood MBE out to some poor shot selection, Prior being shown up technically again and bowled through the gate, and Flintoff prodding flat footed outside off stump nicking to slip. Same shit, different test. Ah well

Didn't Flintoff average 30 ish in the 1st Testsuperjohnmcginlay wrote:Thats what they pointed out in the after match analysis. And Prior carted their attack all points for an hour at cardiff, too
I'd say juries out on whether those 2 are rabbits
Bopara...rank bad selection imo - Windies exposed his woeful technique against the short ball in the winter
He got a 100 but was dropped 83 times getting there!
He can play, but he's got to play straighter and stop hooking
Anyway, Dean Jones reckons a combination of the pitch and the shit balls has this guaranteed as another draw
Now, whether the powers that be have taken the view being level going into Birmigham and Leeds is where we want to be, I dunno
But, just maybe, it makes sense
Cos, in the same way Lords isn't good for us, Leeds and Brum can be
Get out of this level, at worst, and The Urns ours

Equally, as I've mentioned, the pitch is apparently a paradise, and the balls are soft and seamless after 10 oversBWFC_Insane wrote:Listened to the radio on way home. Greg Chapple made a good point.
If you score 400-450 in the first innings and you feel thats a bad score and you can't win, that there is only one place you should be looking....
And its not at your batsmen!

That may be the case but then unless you can bowl a team out it doesn't matter how many you score.CAPSLOCK wrote:Equally, as I've mentioned, the pitch is apparently a paradise, and the balls are soft and seamless after 10 oversBWFC_Insane wrote:Listened to the radio on way home. Both sides have very poor bowling attacks. Its just ours is worse!

Thats the first test though isnt it? Aussie bowlers new to our batsmen. But they seem to have identified a weakness in each of those pretty quickly. They showed the dismissals from both tests and they were just about identical.CAPSLOCK wrote:Didn't Flintoff average 30 ish in the 1st Testsuperjohnmcginlay wrote:Thats what they pointed out in the after match analysis. Be interesting to see how they bat the next time.
Im with you on Bopora.
Haven't they just turned over the South Africans?BWFC_Insane wrote:That may be the case but then unless you can bowl a team out it doesn't matter how many you score.CAPSLOCK wrote:Equally, as I've mentioned, the pitch is apparently a paradise, and the balls are soft and seamless after 10 oversBWFC_Insane wrote:Listened to the radio on way home. 364 for 6 is hardly suicide stuff. Thought we did quite well on the whole. Credit to the Aussie bowlers for getting an unsettled Flintoff and Pietersen on their way. This is the Ashes and the Aussies and it was never going to be a cake walk. If our bowlers perform there's no reason why we can't look at winning this one. Our own papers make me sick; "Opening effort comes unstuck" from the Metro, as if England were all out for 99. Get in there and win it.
