I'll tell you what - I usually dismiss American neo-punk bands out of hand after barely a listen. As I've said before - when I want to listen to a band that try their best to sound like SLF, I listen to SLF.

Now then, tonight I've started listening to The '59 Sound by Gaslight Anthem and I have to say that I'm absolutely loving it. Superb stuff. Good work these men.

'tis a great listen Bruce; bit Springsteenish, but they are his favourite band and he guests with them now and again, but I bet he's not there next month when me and the piratess go to see 'em in Pompey. They're only at the wedgewood rooms as well. Thought they'd be big enough for the Guildhall by now, but it's that time of year when Daniel O'Donnell tours  ................

I wouldn't be listening to it if it sounded Springsteenish, but I take your point. :D

A Mrs Rita type Gin Blossoms, I'd say.

Saw em in Manc academy which isn't my fave venue, and they were amazing. Got tickets to see em at Apollo. Can't wait. Got some cracking gigs lined up - Manics, Interpol, Vampire Weekend on me birthday

Really? It's far and away my favourite venue. Dare I ask, is this a height issue?

I'm getting stuck into my you-bought-it-now-get-it-listened-to pile this week. I'm absolutely loving Bombay Bicycle Club's - I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose.

Anyone else?

For the first time in a looooooong time, the first Biffy album, Blackened Sky. Now the new stuff is all right, and epic-y, but god I'd forgotten how awesome they used to be.

Their latest album's pretty good too. A little hokey, but good all the same.

Not all, no. They've also recruited Ricky Medlocke from Blackfoot and still have a band strong enough to ''turn goat piss into gasoline''!

Almost but not quite.

The worst part of this story is that when the plane crashed, in a remote area, one of the survivors struggled to a house through swampland where he was shot as a burglar (reasonable force?). Anyway, by the time the emergency crew got to the plane most of the dead and some of the still living had been stripped of valuables by the local community. Nice people.
