If we can get rid of Ponting early doors, we'll take this one

We need Ponting and Katich. Get them and we should be in command. Ideally, skittle them all out cheaply and put them back to bat. Same formula, we win. Yeah, if only it were that easy.

See, 400 seems very attainable before you bat, when you're thinking you three batsmen are going to get tons, not out. Not quite so attainable when 12-2. Early days but encouraging to say the least.

Ponting didn't hit it, but was out LBW. It's funnier that way anyway.

Oh, and I think I was selling Jimmy short when I said he was a world class bowler, he's clearly a class all rounder.

Runs this series:

A STRAUSS - 208
P COLLINGWOOD - 138
A COOK - 111
K PIETERSEN - 109
G SWANN - 82
M PRIOR - 78
J ANDERSON - 76
A FLINTOFF - 67
R BOPARA - 54
S BROAD - 49
G ONIONS - 17
M PANESAR - 11

Which reminds me of a joke:

Two souls were ascending to Heaven when they passed a couple of Eagles in mid-flight.

''Ah, Eagles.'' said the souls.

The Eagles were too polite to reply.
