Re: Today I'm happy about......
Spent two great days in Liverpool and watched (imho) the greatest live band in the UK.
My 1st time of any length in Liverpool and I have to say I was mightily surprised & impressed. Tis a beltin city which I'm sure I'll visit again very soon.

Harry, ffs, whatever you do please appreciate that you are over reacting to a good evening & show.Harry Genshaw wrote:Spent two great days in Liverpool and watched (imho) the greatest live band in the UK.

The city is a shit heap, largely populated by people you wouldn't trust to hold a 5p for you.
By all means return, just remember I warned you once you are over the honeymoon period.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Liverpool, I think, is a very, very difficult city to like... I have a goodly number of Scouse mates though, whose company I value... Strangely most are Evertonians the club second on my list of clubs-I-loathe...
Re: Today I'm happy about......
ceasefire announced between israel and palestine...
let's hope it lasts and is the first step towards serious peace talks...
not holding my breath - but is better than yet another night of carnage...

Honestly, if you've not been for a long while you should - it's lovely. The docklands area & Liverpool 1 were great. The cavern area and the Beatles museum are beltin. Only regret was we didn't get to the dockers bar/cafe if it's still going strong - although I suspect that would be more up Wills street than yours

Liverpool's great. Lived there three years and miss it so much. Being in Carlisle makes you appreciate what Liverpool has to offer - plenty of inetersting watering holes and decent shopping. Some good areas out of the centre as well that are worth eexploring.Harry Genshaw wrote:bobo the clown wrote:Harry, ffs, whatever you do please appreciate that you are over reacting to a good evening & show.Harry Genshaw wrote:Spent two great days in Liverpool and watched (imho) the greatest live band in the UK.

Gotta say, I think Bobo has a point here.
Liverpool is horrible. I think people who describe it as "lovely" clearly have just been there too long and forgotten how nice other places are.
There aren't many more depressing things, than being in a place where you hear the scouse accent virtually all the time.
Ughhhh.

Overnight, thousands of Gaza residents poured on to the streets to celebrate, waving flags and setting off fireworks.

That's typical of the trade imbalance between Blighty and sandy Araby. Araby is awash in oil and we get charged billions for it, we're awash in rain and we give you a free overnight sample.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Rain. It finally fecking rained after 7 months! Bastard rained at night so I missed it

They've been teasing me for weeks with the promise for rain. I've even been washing the car, putting washing out, watering the garden and such to tempt itLost Leopard Spot wrote:That's typical of the trade imbalance between Blighty and sandy Araby. Re: Today I'm happy about......
I feel little sympathy AT. Here, it's cold, wet and miserable with mountains of leaves from next door's tree all over a garden I raked clear two days ago. Not really suitable for the angry thread, just resignation. Be happy in your sunshine.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:They've been teasing me for weeks with the promise for rain.
