That doesn't make them good though, does it?! A bunch of self congratulatory knobs fellating one and other. I could come up with shite like that. I can also strum chords on a guitar - it doesn't make me a musician.TANGODANCER wrote:It isn't about a particular type of art. Have a look at this: These are by an award-winning B.A and art teacher. The first one is titled Trafalga square winter dusk: I can't make head or tail of these and think they're truly awful. Muddy colours and child-like brushwork. No comparison with the one I put up.

No indeed. It's actually frightening that anybody could think so, but they do. This woman is Tracy Emin with a paintbrush......(sorry Will)Bruce Rioja wrote:That doesn't make them good though, does it?!TANGODANCER wrote:It isn't about a particular type of art. Bear in mind that there are folk in that world that think a canvas painted black is some sort of deep meaning genius.TANGODANCER wrote:Which is a truth. Re: The Great Art Debate
Another one of those simple, delicate impressionist paintings that use little to say lots. By French artist
Eugene Boudin (1824-1898) and in a private collection. Titled, The Beach at Trouville. Be happy to have that on my wall. I wish.

Ah .... you can't beat Rothko.
You could burn his 'work' though.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: The Great Art Debate
Had a look at Rothko's stuff on google, couldn't find the black thing but found one that was half black half grey but called 'Black and White'.
HELLO!!! Can't even label his colours right.
