The BBC are just very smart. Today on CBC news we got longer than a 5 second clip of the song. Why was the clip even done? Well the BBC has made the song official international news simply by refusing to play the clip. I'm sure even people in the U.K. are talking about the matter more today than yesterday, and now people around the world when they think of Mr.s Thatcher also think of the wicked witch.

just "accidently" play that version of 'somewhere over the rainbow' by that fat hawaiian with the ukelelee

people who've never heard it, will be dl-ing it, that it'd probably chart the next week.

or just scrap the rundown for this week. and loop that "gimme back my money" thing maggie T. said to europe for three hours instead.

the bbc has banned a shit ton of records for more stupid reasons than this. during iraq's war for oil. it played the same record for 90 days, coz every other record had "bomb" or "shoot" or "2 live crew" in it. i think it was that "wet, wet, wet" song from that hugh grant film.

"there's blood on your hand mrs thatcher" was a quote from the worst/most hypocritical* episode of the simpsons ever..

* calling george lucas crap ... although the quote's about a "northern england has no coal mines now" film, that although fictional , is probably in some people's on heres top ten films.

Damn you, a1! I had lived my life quietly and happily unaware of the existence of "is" Kamakawiwo until I checked out your first paragraph.

Edit: I cannot understand why TW displays "is" when I clearly write "is".

Thought I knew which journey song you were going on about but then you said it was good and my mind went blank. Luckily you mentioned that Israel (always remember his first name) song, as I love listening to that whenever my mind drifts off.

STOP IT!.

All going crackers. Now we've even got a couple of ninety year old Munchkins (who made the original song) disgusted at it being used this way and a rival group trying , or hoping, to promote their " I love Maggie Thatcher" song from way back. Lay the whole thing at the door of the media who are having a bean feast from it all. Now Millwall supporters are threatening to kick off against protest groups this afternoon. Crackers, the lot of it. All been badly handled, right from the top. I really fear Wednesday will be a total circus. She's gone, let it go.

The hilarious thing is that the Pro-Thatcherites who picked the 'I love Maggie Thatcher' song to oppose Ding Dong have actually picked a satirical anti-Thatcher song.

Either way, win-win!

Just bury the fxckin bitch and get this shite out of the fxckin way.
Even I'm I'm getting bored with this fxcking crap now.
It's pretty bleeding obvious that some people think she was Saint Margaret and others think she was Satan Incarnate. We will never agree on this matter, ever.
Can we lock this fxckin thread now. Please. I'll re-emerge from my shelter on Thursday, if Kim Jong Un ain't done for me by then.
That's not a leopard!

journey song off caddyshack = "anyway you want it" . its ok.

other journey song that were everywhere in 2010+ mainly coz Glee copied it off Family Guy or some kid off youtube = "dont stop believing" , meh.

good song off bran flakes/travel agent advert / ER mark greene death scene that Montreal Wanderer had never heard that i cant believe coz i heard it all the time in 2010+ = "somewhere over the rainbow b/w What_a_Wonderful_World" as covered by Isreal "is" Kamakawiwo'ole .

NB: [ he's right this board autocorrects the 'word' "I-Z" (minus the hyphen) to " is " , whatever happened to artistic license ? ]
for example - MARGRET THATCHER is DA BEST . There, it did it then.

maybe its coz quebec's full of french speakers, or maybe MW hasnt got a tv or radio, but it really become well known , an example of this is that the youtube link MW linked to has been watched 80 million times.

i carnt believe the wizard of oz is from 1939. it loos like it were filmed in the 70s. maybe its been retouched/restored (hmm, dont think it has, its just dead 'bright' and new lookin' )

looks like it cost a lot of money. wouldnt be surprised if it cost $40million in 1939 money. i know it barely made its money back for various reasons on original release. i think its amazing. it were on telly just last week. it's classic.

in other news Shit Meatloaf (aka bruce springsteen) wrote an anti war, anti conscription song that patriotic types adopted as an anthem.

they do that and it destroys the irony.

no.

frasier, cheers ok. coupla wobbles but ok. mash became crappy when alan alda sneeked his politics into it too directly, although i never got it anyway in the early years , probably coz the robot laugh track put me off.

re: saint elsewhere and rapes. there were a lot of rapes in it. one of the doctors raped all the nurses over about 18 months, before one of them that hadnt been raped shot him dead then got carted off to the mental asylum. the guy from twelve monkeys/the green mile , did a stint being doctor at the prison and got raped by a prisoner , before going a bit shellshocked, that trial collapses, eventually the culprit gets out on parole years later and stalks him then hold him hostage in his house where his 5 year old son shoots the purpatraitor dead with his "toy" gun after a mix up with his formerly lefty dads (the raped doctor) real gun. mental.

The robot laugh track was never added in the UK. Too much class, you see.
