See, for me, the thing with Johnny Cash is that when he just happens to pop up on something by someone else, has a song on a compilation or does a cover of something in his own style then I think that the guy sounds absolutely awesome. Yet I can't listen to a full album's worth of him singing.white blood wrote:Johnny Cash, ring of fire, the best of.

I don't know, I suppose it's just me.

May the bridges I burn light your way

I can relate to that. A lot of albums have that effect. JC doesn't have a big voice range, so a lot of his stuff sounds sameish when you listen to an album. Throw a single on and he's great.Bruce Rioja wrote:See, for me, the thing with Johnny Cash is that when he just happens to pop up on something by someone else, has a song on a compilation or does a cover of something in his own style then I think that the guy sounds absolutely awesome. Think I'll have a bit of Marty Robbins tonight. "Gunfighter Ballads" Shades of "Cowboys and Combats" "El Paso" is an all time classic. Marty who?????

Agreed. His cover of Nine Inch Nails "Hurt" was on a par with the original. Even better if you watch the video.Bruce Rioja wrote:See, for me, the thing with Johnny Cash is that when he just happens to pop up on something by someone else, has a song on a compilation or does a cover of something in his own style then I think that the guy sounds absolutely awesome.
