Well, tomorrow night, the Clowns will be in the Manchester Arena.
Mrs Clown will be watching Fleetwood Mac.
Bobo will be watching Stevie Nicks.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Always impressed with Manchester. Had Tapas before the show and got down to the Arena which is well organised. Hardly intimate but excellently arranged and they were superb. Clearly the Buckingham/Nicks show and a tiny bit self indulgent in some song selections but great music, superbly played and over 2.5 hours all played at 11 on the amp setting.
Doubt I'll ever see them again so one for the memory.

A gig I wish I'd gone to! Love Buckingham's guitar playing, did they play 'never going back again'?bobo the clown wrote:Well, I went. Stevie wanted me .. I could tell.bobo the clown wrote:Well, tomorrow night, the Clowns will be in the Manchester Arena.

They did. Just checked & it was 12th on the list, of 23 songs. Smack in the middle then.Beefheart wrote:A gig I wish I'd gone to! I hadn't realised what a good guitarist he was to be fair ... and such an usual finger style. "I'm So Afraid" seems to be his tour-de-force.

The Octagon for Long Day's Journey into Night. Looking forward to it. I really like Eugeme o Neill and Margot Leicester brightens every stage she inhabits.

Let us know how you get on will you please, William? I'm in no rush to have an opinion formed by the BN's chappie, but he's pretty much panned it as being overly long and depressing.William the White wrote:The Octagon for Long Day's Journey into Night. It is long. (There's a bit of a clue in the title).Bruce Rioja wrote:Let us know how you get on will you please, William? Depressing? This is the story of a family ruined by morphine addiction, alcohol and the deadly pain of disappointment. they hurt each other like crazy, yet it's clear that somewhere else they love each other profoundly. It had me shaking at the interval and at the end.
The story is told in great poetic monologues and duologues, with language used as a weapon to hurt, and perhaps destroy. This is frequently the case with o Neill - that mixture of Irish and American produces a rich linguistic soup. I was never depressed. It is, of course, tailor made for Margot Leicester, who is astonishing throughout, and especially at the conclusion of the play.
I'm going to see it again. I suspect it will be in a half-empty theatre, but I won't mind. I'll be gripped and shaken.

Sounds good to me and we'll be there on Saturday evening. Trouble is, we're taking two looked after 17yr olds, one of whom has been with us several times and quite likes theatre but the other hasn't seen any play previously. Might not be the right one to take a virgin to, but hey ho.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
It's a demanding occasion, but a great production, so you never know. I remember you admire Keiron Hill's work - I think this is his best performance at the Octagon by a distance. But the entire production is cast up to the hilt - even the minor role of The Maid is performed exceptionally well (and offers a little - welcome - comedy...).clapton is god wrote:Sounds good to me and we'll be there on Saturday evening. Spent much of this afternoon writhing about on the floor of the sports hall with my colleague and thirty 6 and 7 year old boys being 'machines'. Gotta love year 2 dance lessons...

Hmmm, to cheat and put Jack in pull ups and go to bounce and roll this morning or morning at home and work on potty training and deal with lots of wet underwear. It's tricky decisions like this that make you all envy SAHM's I am sure...
