I prefer Beneath... but Arise is top notch as well.
Not listened to them in ages.
I've just spent the weekend drum teching for my mate's band who've come over from Belgium to record their debut album. Check em out - http://www.castlesband.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
On the way to work this morning I was enveloped by The Eye of Every Storm by Neurosis. Incredible recording by Steve Albini. Powerful, incredibly well textured and layered. Just sublime

Playing Flamenco's version of the ultimate rock rebel, Camaron de la Isla. Rebel music, alcholism, drugs, he did them all including dying young. A massive talent wasted like so many others.
Here with one of the finest guitarists on planet earth, Paco de Lucia.

Sleigh Bells. I'm quite impressed.
Re: What are you playing tonight?
went to an all dayer at The Princess Alice in Whitechapel. Feckin awesome.
Cementimental played and was awesome. Something else live: http://cementimental.bandcamp.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also there was a guy who could play the guitar and drums at the same time, which was incredible to watch if a bit novelty.
An acoustic guitary chap called Lonely Joe also played, who was very pleasant.

Having rescued it from misguided Sellotape reinforcement of the clear-plastic cover, I'm spinning my vinyl copy of The Jam's The Gift, 29 years after I got the 523 bus into town to buy it from Tracks.

Where was Tracks DSB? I have no recollection of it at all.

Mealhouse Lane, is it? Behind where the BEN was before they moved to Churchgate. Back of M&S, way before it had been rebranded thus and folk called it Marks and Sparks. Last time I was down there - which may be a decade ago - I think the actual location of tracks was the entrance to that funny little half-empty arcade that linked into the Arndale. It's entirely possible that yon arcade shut down two presidents ago.CrazyHorse wrote:Where was Tracks DSB? I have no recollection of it at all.
EDIT Shipgates, that was it. Some oldish (but not really) Arndale pics here including the birdcage and Stolen from Ivor...

Re: What are you playing tonight?
Probably a decade since I set foot there too. 'tis all coming flooding back, although I'm alarmed at how easily all this lot was forgotten. Still can't remember Tracks though.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Mealhouse Lane, is it? Behind where the BEN was before they moved to Churchgate. Latterly, Andy's (at the train station end). Years ago, Our Price ("...is dearer than everyone else's").Lofthouse Lower wrote:What was the name of that record shop opposite the Town Hall steps?
Hoss, not sure Tracks last much longer than 1982. I remember my sisters being rather upset about that.
