Good point. Next year's requirements are already public. Luckily my lad's first choice uni hasn't raised theirs, but his 2nd choice has. They've also said that they won't penalise him if he re-sits, but some do.

had a pretty crappy day today, got home - tea with my boys (spag bol) - which cheered me up.

then got an "emergency" phone call from a family in Newton Abbot - who I don't know from Adam - whose mother is close to death - would I go round and say some prayers with her...

grudgingly (cos I am a bit of a grumpy old git) - and I was looking fwd to settling in with a glass of wine to the second series of Orange is the New Black - I drove off to Newton and found this obscure N/H - and met the most fabulously sweet little old lady and her daughter in law - and spent a half and hour or so with them - praying with them - singing with them - and laughing together - while she kept saying - "don't leave me - I'm so very, very tired..."

she won't last until morning - the daughter-in-law has a long night ahead of her, I suspect - but it reminded me how much I love my job because it is SUCH a privilege to be welcomed into someone's life and family at such a moment...
