Pete(r) Gabriel often works with Francesca Gonshaw.
Look her up.
I can see no better reason for taking him seriously.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Think id rather go the Octagon with with Will! or maybe spend the weekend on my knees in chains with a bag over my head getting pissed on at Guantanamo...Dr Hotdog wrote:Well Camel were very, very enjoyable on Monday night. They did a flawless 45-minute Snow Goose set, took half an hour to powder their noses and take a cod liver oil capsule and then came back and did a 1 hour 45 minute set from their back catalogue! Whooosh!
Tonight i'm off the Manchester Art Gallery for a preview of the new Grayson Perry exhibition. I'm hopeful of a couple of glasses of free plonk and perhaps some snacks.
Friday Night sees Manchester host (at least) three top-quality concerts. For the cultured rich middle to upper there's Pete Gabriel (with Tony Levin on the Chapman Stick!) at the big Arena while for the grubby underbelly there's a choice between post-rock nice chaps The Appleseed Cast at the Deaf Institute or the frantic post-industrial-prog-instrumental-looped-guitar-lunacy of Russian Circles at 'Gorrilla'. Plus probably loads more because Manchester's a fine place to live with plenty of bobbins happening all over the place. Just don't forget to capture it all on social media and show off to your followers what you did with who and where you boring shit.
See you down the front.

Young Rebel Set at the Soup Kitchen in Manc Sat eve. A lot different to Alter Bridge at The Arena but think it could be just as good.

Weird venue, that Soup Kitchen. Saw BC Camplight there a few weeks back - kinda basementy feel, like it should be falling apart.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Has anyone seen anyone play at Gorilla Bar? What's it like? Turin Brakes are playing there in a few weeks and I fancy seeing them again. Last time I saw them was at The Apollo.

Is that a new place? I just googled it and noticed it was opposite the Ritz. Never seen it before!
Re: Where are you going tonight?
I've heard mixed opinions on Gorilla. I'm off there for the first time tomorrow night to see Russian Circles so I'll let you know.

I think you'd quite like some of the stuff that's on at the Octagon, and William's company is a pleasure in itself.General Mannerheim wrote: Think id rather go the Octagon with with Will! or maybe spend the weekend on my knees in chains with a bag over my head getting pissed on at Guantanamo...

Yes, please do. To me it looks a bit like a decent burger joint that happens to stick bands on.Dr Hotdog wrote:I've heard mixed opinions on Gorilla. I'm off there for the first time tomorrow night to see Russian Circles so I'll let you know.

I believe you've pretty much hit the nail on the head there.

Not been yet, does look unusual, like a school canteen that puts bands on!mrkint wrote:Weird venue, that Soup Kitchen. Saw BC Camplight there a few weeks back - kinda basementy feel, like it should be falling apart.

I've been to a couple of gigs downstairs at SK and always dug it. Nice vibes. Depends on the act though.LeverEnd wrote:Not been yet, does look unusual, like a school canteen that puts bands on!mrkint wrote:Weird venue, that Soup Kitchen. True. BC Camplight clearly felt he was God, or something. Some decent tunes but sometimes you felt the lad needed a slap in the chops.

I saw Long Day's Journey Into Night for the second time.
I'm even more convinced that this is a great production.
Finishes Saturday.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
I too went to see Long Day's Journey Into Night last night and, although I realise that I don't have the theatrical miles of some of you under my belt, am happy to proclaim it the best play that I've seen so far. I really cannot understand criticism of the play's length. For me it's exactly as long as it needs to be to deliver the story. Incredible acting from the perfectly casted cast - Kieran Hill delivers, in my opinion, his best performance to date as the eldest son and Margot Leicester, whose character carries the play's burden, provides this incredible performance in which she somehow over the course of a two hour period slips bit by bit towards a drug-induced stupor.
Brilliant stuff. Well done to all.
