I just worry on account of your age. Too much alcohol isn't good for you when you're getting on a bit, you know. You can't hold it like you could in your youth GtE. (sigh) I have a capacity for certain things that are beyond measure. My tolerance for your jibes for instance. Goodnight short stuff. XGooner Girl wrote:I just worry on account of your age. You love it really. Bit of banter makes you feel young again. I'm doing you a favour. Some thanks I get! For a while now, I've been thinking about my views on the different ways of being stationary. As I see it, there are two classical schools, the standing-upists, and the lie-downers. Somewhere in history, some opportunistic folks, with a lack of principles, or moral vigour, drew away; these fence-sitters and hedge-betters cheapened us all with their 'fusion' take on being stationary. As a result, for the next week I've decided (possibly for charity) to not sit down.
On an unrelated note, I went to my first ever spin-class today.

How are the quads this morning?

Re: The athletics/running thread
They're fine, so long as I don't in any way attempt to move.

Re: The athletics/running thread
I did 3 miles the other night.. Thought I'd proper thrash it out and do it as fast as I could as it was only a short distance.. After 2 miles I had to stop.
My football 'retirement' has really taken it's toll...
So I joined one of those Pure Gyms.

Did a circuit. sorry OVERdid a circuit. Legs went to jelly and I fell down the stairs on the way out...
Went back in this morning, did the same, plus a little bit extra and pissed it after not eating for about 11rs.
Weird

Circuits sessions wipe me out. Can't run or walk properly for about 3 days, even if I'm running fit. Comes from being a skinny distance running runt with a concave chest I think.boltonboris wrote:Well, I went to the gym last night.boltonboris wrote:I did 3 miles the other night.. I can't do circuits. I have the turning circle of a tanker. Need a bout two weeks notice to run round a corner. Straight-ish lines only for me.

Right I've signed up to Endomodo in an effort to get myself out there, I hate running on treadmills so this is the only way I'll do it.
First run 4.67km in 28minutes. Probs shit but YOU HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE

Re: The athletics/running thread
after three weeks of eating and drinking like hedonism bot I've decided to get back into it. I've been doing a lot of swimming recently, which although i enjoy isn't really doing it enough - it's very easy now to just go to the pool for 20 mins and go 'yay exercise' whereas before i was doing 40-50 mins of other stuff. So, went for a bit of hill running last night, made myself some veg-infested soup for the rest of the week and will be hitting the spinning classes tomorrow after some circuits today. Woopy do.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Tempo training last night.
1.5 mile warm up
1mile at pace (6.37)
1 mile jog
5 x 200m uphill sprints (fast downhill recovery)
1 mile jog
1 mile at pace (6.58)
1.5 mile warm down
This is supposed to be a taper week for my half marathon..

Re: The athletics/running thread
Where's the half marathon? I'm injured, limped down the Pike on Sunday and haven't run since. Had physion but it's a wait and see, deep pelvis injury, could be weeks. Bollocks, another attempted comeback bites the dust. Typical really.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Decided to run a bit further (around the Etihad instead of just 'to it') and did the extra 1km so 5.67km in 32:30 which is a faster average of 5m45s / km vs 6m00s / kmGary the Enfield wrote:Never knock your time. Birmingham on Sunday. Sorry to hear about your injury. You were doing so well too. Have you had an X-Ray? Not wanting to sound melodramatic but a suspected piriformis injury two years ago turned out to be a fractured Sacrum.
Heal quick. Recover strong.
