A sort of green-feminist-anarcho-socialist version of the legend, but amiable, heart-warming and fun.

Fck Bill, do you never just watch something and think "yeah, that was good !" ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Tbf which part of the original Robin Hood isn't anarchist, socialist and (in reference to his fancy suit) green?
I dunno probably watched the Mel brooks version more times.

Been down the awfully terribly posh Hurlingham Club tonight for a game of squash. Duke of Edinburgh is the president apparently, costs £12k a year membership and there's a 10 year waiting list. We smashed em.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Turned out food was at Alchemy, just off Spinningfields. Was good for a quick nosh and just around the corner from the Opera House. There's no name plate outside the place, just a very small and silly 'A' in a circle so how they expect anyone to find it on a first visit.... As for the play, not for me. Everyone else in the party enjoyed it but wrong genre for me, and I can normally enjoy everything I go to. Very well put together and superbly choreographed, but meh. Best entertainment of the night was two young ladies sat two rows in front who were absolutely bladdered and were on the verge of getting chucked out.clapton is god wrote:Food in town somewhere followed by 'Singing In The Rain' at the Palace, or the Opera House. Not quite sure which yet, one or t'other, but I'll sort it when we get there. Its all a bit vague really but that's the kind of day I've had.

Aye, you're quite right, WtW. It's dissecting, discussing and exploring what I've just seen that keeps me going back for more. First reaction is always simply yay or nay but then the thoughts begin.William the White wrote:Can you really 'just' like something without thinking any more about it? well done you...bobo the clown wrote: Fck Bill, do you never just watch something and think "yeah, that was good !" ?

Yes. Yes, I can. Maybe it's because I'm simple.William the White wrote:Can you really 'just' like something without thinking any more about it? well done you...bobo the clown wrote: Fck Bill, do you never just watch something and think "yeah, that was good !" ?
Take 'Gravity' for example. I watched a film. I know it's infeasible. I know that the whole issue of space exploration is costly and probably pointless. I know that there are better ways to spend money and that it consolidates the power of the richer countries. I know there are unstated military implications. I appreciate that there are gender and racial issues in some aspects.
But I just watched a film about a space mission that cocked up. I haven't cared one jot about all the above.
You'll be saying Panto's are deep & meaningful nex ....... ah.

Ah, but there have been times when I've felt quite bliss in my ignorance until you and yer mate have got to work on dissecting things.William the White wrote:Can you really 'just' like something without thinking any more about it? well done you...bobo the clown wrote: Fck Bill, do you never just watch something and think "yeah, that was good !" ?

Indeed, like an orchid is ignorance. Touch it once and it's hard to keep alive.Bruce Rioja wrote:Ah, but there have been times when I've felt quite bliss in my ignorance until you and yer mate have got to work on dissecting things.William the White wrote:Can you really 'just' like something without thinking any more about it? well done you...bobo the clown wrote: Fck Bill, do you never just watch something and think "yeah, that was good !" ?
Though I'm confident bobo will put in the necessary effort.

I saw it, having quite fancied it since hearing about it on Broadway... and was really really disappointed. I thought it was puerile and repetitive and not at all clever in the way that South Park can often be.General Mannerheim wrote:talking of religious maniacs. was thinking of goping to see The Book of Mormon tonight.

I'm going to watch Matilda tonight.

I nearly came back and said I hoped you went anyway because I was interested in your take on it!General Mannerheim wrote:Well I'm glad i didn't read that earlier or might not have bothered.

Maybe I'd built it up too much... me and mate went and just looked as each other when they were singing about female circumcision, maggots in that guys scrotum etc and wondered if there was something we were missing. You're not the first to disagree with us.
Matilda, on the other hand, was brilliant.

I found the maggots in the scrotum stuff hilarious, but i agree the clitoris stuff was taking it a bit far. Didn’t hinder my enjoyment of it tho.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:I nearly came back and said I hoped you went anyway because I was interested in your take on it!General Mannerheim wrote:Well I'm glad i didn't read that earlier or might not have bothered.

Did you find it funny every single time he said it?! Urgh, I know I'm a miserable bastard but no - not for me.General Mannerheim wrote:I found the maggots in the scrotum stuff hilarious, but i agree the clitoris stuff was taking it a bit far. Not seen Commitments yet - I know someone in it, so will be going soon. Let me know if/when you want to go and I'll see if I can sort something.
And yep, will definitely see American Psycho at some point too!
