You mean jokes that aren't double underlined so the Yanks know when to laugh?a1 wrote:it had them things that were 'kind of jokes' with no punchline..
Re: Margaret Thatcher, R.I.P.?
no, loads of 'em watched seinfeld. so no yanks had any sort of problem with that show.Enoch wrote: You mean jokes that aren't double underlined so the Yanks know when to laugh?
Childrens's Hospital is also a medical comedy that is better too.

That said there must have been 10 series at least.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

the wiki sez not, but , i only remember the bbc2 repeats, and later.. if these were the syndicated versions ( with for example certain music changed for liscensing reasons) then the first half has robot laughs, and the last half omits it completely or has re-recorded more normal soundin' ones. (maybe the first 4 or so episodes of the original showings did have the robot laugh track before complaints made the beeb sort somethin').
its still being shown on comedy central uk today, this has the laugh track from what i catched.
off putting , coz someone's just pressing a button. uncanny valley syndrome kicks in.
a zombie margret thatcher would be low down (or high up?) in causing uncanny valley. whether you like her or don't.

It was always noted as a particular difference over here . I guess it can be bought and used or not. Prety sure it was "not" in the UK.

My memory isn't good at the best of times, so I really don't know. What I do know, is that I was an ardent viewer and that leads me to believe there wasn't any, otherwise it would have put me off and I wouldn't have troubled again.

i'm pretty sure it was 'not' in the US too, judging from amazon.com dvd reviews.bobo the clown wrote:It was always noted as a particular difference over here . I guess it can be bought and used or not. Prety sure it was "not" in the UK.
"ZOMG I LUV THE LAFFTRAX ON THIZ MASH BOXSET" fake reviews would be a good meme though. like that 3 wolves and moon tshirt.

I hope the Police have got adequate supplies of tear gas, baton rounds and water cannon for 'the scrotes day out', Wednesday.
Failing that live ammo will do.
Any scrote with a larger can and under 45 should be tasered and despatched to North Korea for eventual incineration.
Respect????

Hurry up and croak you dictator loving bast*rd then I can p*ss on your grave!Galloway said on BBC2's Daily Politics: "We're spending £10m on the canonisation of this wicked woman, this woman who laid waste to industrial Britain, to the north, to Scotland, to south Wales. We've already had the recall of parliament last week, with MPs being paid up to £3,700 to fly back from the Caribbean holiday that they were on and then fly back to start their holiday again, for a totally unnecessary fawning over this woman. And now they want to cancel prime minister's questions. It's absurd."
He criticised the level of attention Thatcher's funeral had received. He pointed out that the Labour prime minister Harold Wilson had won four general elections, (Left out the fact Wilson sacked more miners than Thatcher did) and said the Labour postwar prime minister Clement Attlee "totally transformed the country in the wake of the second world war – neither of those had anything remotely like this, this tidal wave of guff that the country's been forced to listen to, particularly on the BBC.
"And when they bought Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead you censored it, as the only means they had of expressing their own rejection of all of this." Typical Georgie boy, jumping on the mindless moron/hippie gone wrong bandwaggon

Can't really fault a word he says, other than the first couple of sentences, which is political opinion.
I doubt we'll get an all-but-in-name-state-funeral for Galloway, and I think considering how much bile he attracts from certain quarters, thats perfectly correct.

You mean coupled to the fact he's never done anything of any use in his entire life?Lord Kangana wrote:Can't really fault a word he says, other than the first couple of sentences, which is political opinion.

Indeed, as I say he inspires partisan opinions, and therefore it would seem prudent not to.

Re: Margaret Thatcher, R.I.P.?
I really cannot believe you are comparing Galloway to Thatcher! I too think its a bit OTT the funeral arrangements and frankly very un-Thatcher like, its not down to her though is it?
Thatcher did a lot wrong but in future years the Blair/Brown leadership will be shown to have done far more damage than she ever did to this country.
Truly, would anyone like to have seen the Welsh windbag as PM? (other than brother BWFCi or Willie the Red).

Re: Margaret Thatcher, R.I.P.?
I'm sure some people would have done. And I'm sure some people would also prefer Galloway to Thatcher. He seems to be able to win parliamentary seats with commensurate ease.
However, you, and I'm sure some like-minded folk, don't like him. Indeed, I suspect it would be possible use the words "despise" and "loath" in this context.
So, as I say, it would be unwise to make a fuss at the inevitable passing of George Galloway. If you were to extrapolate that out, then it becomes reasonable enough to suggest that only truly great States-persons who are universally liked should be afforded the complement of such a lavish, state-funded funeral. Only one springs readily to mind, and he got it.
And, as an aside, it'll be interesting to see whether Blair is accorded the same accolade. Indeed. if he now isn't, it would seem to suggest that the attention and praise heaped upon MHR is nothing short of political opportunism from a flagging administration, desperate to be associated with perceived good deeds from times long since past.

It was Blair who put these arrangements in place - it's difficult to say it's got anything to do with opportunism on the part of the Government.
Oh and who cares about George Galloway enough to despise him?! I've always thought politics would be poorer with Gorgeous George.

Yes, and as I say, plenty of people think the same of Mrs T.
It doesn't surprise me that Blair put this in place, no doubt expecting the same nonsense to be gushed out in his direction. I just hope a million people fill the streets of London again to block the route of the warmongering feeble minded nobhead. Not that I dislike the guy, its just business.
