What are you playing tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

It's not really my thing, so I don't watch it.. That's because I personally, find it boring.

But if it's not social snobbery on this board, it's feckin' musical, theatrical snobbery..

They're obviously (mostly) talented singers.. That's what the shows about.

They're not talented though, are they? I heard that one on the radio the other day that we were all meant to feel sorry for.

I've heard cats fighting hold a better note.

I'm not a snob. I have watched several years of this rubbish. It has unearthed a few genuine stars. Much like you'll find the occasional gold ring if you sift through a town's worth of excrement.

I just find the way it treats the contestants, the 'fans' and the tv audience in general contemptuous. At the end of the day it's product placement with a musical accompaniment.

It's not the kind of shite I like.

Thing is X Factor's primary purpose is not to find the next Bob Dylan or Neil Young, or even to entertain folk (though it has to do that in order to achieve its pp), but to make money.

And its very good at doing that. You can argue forever about whether its good or bad for music, TV, young people's minds etc, but it all comes down to something that has been designed and executed very successfully to achieve its aim.

As for the contestants, they can mostly sing, they are essentially glorified karaoke artists, but then so are MOST of the acts that comprise what goes for the top 40 nowadays. So clearly they are not bothered about how generic or manufactured or bland, or even talented their acts are but whether they can compel folks to spend money voting and then ideally (but not essentially) buying their records subsequently.

I don't suppose its any worse/more shite for music, or young people in this country than say the monkees were back in the day!

A bit of Glenn Miller's cheering up a day that, weather-wise, is determined to make things utterly miserable. Wild wind and haistones, plus rain, isn't encouraging the great outdoors as a prospect at all today.

Don't know much of The Cure but I like One Hundred Years. (The Drumming mainly)

The other day for $10 each I bought The Cure 'Pornography' and The Living End 'White Noise'.

At the Market I got 5 Cure cds!

Got told that it's impossible to get the Sitting on a Beach album or whatever.

I play this nearly everynight:
http://www.paramore.net/forums/bed-intr ... -download/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H08EXnT0Pz0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The downloadable version is broken or someting, it still plays though.
I've edited a fixed Windows Media Version, Which I should upload.

we have the wild wind but not the rain/hailstones... I set off on the bike for what promised to be a spectacularly tedious meeting in central London this afternoon - but when I hit the A13 I got battered by such a powerful crosswind that I feared for my life - so I pulled off and made my way home through some more sheltered built up areas and phoned in my apologies! RESULT!! :wink:

Boy's Don't Cry, Faith, Seventeen Seconds, Pornography are the best. Goes downhill for me after this early stuff.

Beautiful sunny skies here today, but the temp has dropped from 19/20 to 14 and you can feel the chill. So warmed myself up with The Fall, Ed Sheeran, Laura Marling, Biffy Clyro, Katy b & a bit of a Brass band mix I have. (One of several).
