maybe they've been watching too much Location, Location, Location - where it seems to be accepted that it is perfectly fine to try to knock 10% of the advertised price off - and then baulk if the seller refuses because you they are already £20,000 over budget because they assumed the seller would haved to knock 10% off...Bruce Rioja wrote:The bastards that have put an offer in on my house are now dicking me about.
friend of mine is selling at the moment - the most recent prospective buyers had a survey which found a tiny patch of damp in the loft caused by one loose tile (which has now been replaced) - and on the strength of that, wanted £20,000 knocked off the price. he told them to shove their offer up their arses...

Seems to be a buyers market at the moment - couple of people I know trying to unload are being told they need to drop at least 20% to get a sniff in.thebish wrote:maybe they've been watching too much Location, Location, Location - where it seems to be accepted that it is perfectly fine to try to knock 10% of the advertised price off - and then baulk if the seller refuses because you they are already £20,000 over budget because they assumed the seller would haved to knock 10% off...Bruce Rioja wrote:The bastards that have put an offer in on my house are now dicking me about.

Not in the current market. The real ITK people reckon us oop north could see beyond 20% knocked off the price of our houses (that is further than now).
Still, tell 'em to stick it unless you're happy with what they offer, theres always someone who'll pay more.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

i wasn't suggesting anyone should offer the asking price - BUT - don't budget for an automatic 20% reduction - and then (if the seller refuses to go all the way to the knocl-down price you want) pull out because the house was always beyond your means.

I know what you mean Bish. Thing is the buggers watch that program you mentioned when often they're buying at the higher end of the market where 20% off is at times possible.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Would anyone in their right mind start of by offering the asking price?

Its not usually possible on a 2 bed semi though and folk think it is!
Oh and W4E there are exceptions of course as I'm sure you're of sound mind, not sure about right minded though!

Guess it all depends on whether you spent 13 years as a property surveyor or not...thebish wrote:Lord Kangana wrote:Not in the current market. The real ITK people reckon us oop north could see beyond 20% knocked off the price of our houses (that is further than now).

Early doors, chap. I've accepted their offer and that's about it. I've just informed the estate agents not to publicise that it's under offer.BWFC_Insane wrote:What stage is it at?Bruce Rioja wrote:The bastards that have put an offer in on my house are now dicking me about.
I always find that once that happens its best to tell em where to stick it.
Unless its pretty advanced of course.
I have, however, received a whole bunch of blurb from the solicitors about a half an inch thick that they expect me to fill in. Sure, will I be leaving the curtains and carpets is one thing, but who's my internet provider?

May the bridges I burn light your way

Out of interest who are the buyers solicitors? I've dealt with a few and SOME of them are nightmares. So much so that I won't sell to anyone who uses them as their solicitors.

Well, I certainly wouldn't be decrying any legal bodies on a public internet forum. Take it as you will.BWFC_Insane wrote:From what point of view TD?TANGODANCER wrote:Care is advised in replying to that.BWFC_Insane wrote:

Given the way you phrased it, I think TD means be careful about naming a Solicitors who you wouldn't deal with as it could be construed as a defamation of character. I'm not a legal expert, but they are.BWFC_Insane wrote:From what point of view TD?TANGODANCER wrote:Care is advised in replying to that.BWFC_Insane wrote:

However, I don't personally think its any different to say someone saying "the pies at the Reebok are terrible".
If I say I've dealt with "X" and their service was in my opinion terrible, they'd struggle to sue me for that.
But I will heed your warning and keep schtum!

I think all solicitors are fookin' crooks. Every one 'em will try to bleed you for every last penny they can when representing you. Just my personal opinion an' all.
