Re: The athletics/running thread
Back to the osteopath on Friday, 20 min jog has fecked my hip/back up again. getting beyond a joke now. I seem to manage on average 2-3 months running a year because of injury, not looking like improving I'm afraid. Unfortunately I'm utterly shite at every other sport so will keep trying I guess.

That tattoo of your mate must be looming close, no?
Seriously, that's a big shame. Have you had an MRI scan to see what's causing it?

Jeez - sorry to hear that fella. I feel your pain - I managed a weak 6 miles tonight with pains shooting all over the place and one calf seizing up. If I was to break down again, I'm not sure I could motivate myself to try another comeback.LeverEnd wrote:Back to the osteopath on Friday, 20 min jog has fecked my hip/back up again. getting beyond a joke now. Like G says - may be worth going whole hog now and getting everything fully checked out - injuries, gait analysis & podiatry etc

I know its hard when you're itching to get back to it.Harry Genshaw wrote:PossiblyGooner Girl wrote:, that's not good, did you over do it last weekend do you reckon? You've not been long back. Re: The athletics/running thread
It's bizarre. Problems started in my left calf last year and then onto my right where eventually Achilles tendonitis was diagnosed. Tonight it was back to the left calf againGooner Girl wrote:I know its hard when you're itching to get back to it.Harry Genshaw wrote:PossiblyGooner Girl wrote:, that's not good, did you over do it last weekend do you reckon? This is pain in a different place to before?

Re: The athletics/running thread
Cheers guys. I'm convinced it's gait/balance related but might try to get an MRI sorted. I have a friend who is a consultant radio-something who said she'd help.
I have a pair of orthotics in that cost me £310 from Liverpool FC's podiatrist, but they're old and my body could have realigned so may need looking at. I'm going to take them out and see how that goes.

I would SERIOUSLY advise not doing that until you've spoken to another podiatrist or a musculo-skeletal expert. You may make things worse if you don't.
An Osteopath may be the best place to start. They do consultations from about £30. Isn't there a Sports Injury one near the Beehive on Chorley New Road?

Re: The athletics/running thread
Thanks for the tips guys, but I go to this guy, I do rate him. http://www.alexgreen.co.uk/
My main physio is this practice, run by a former racing rival and friend of mine.
http://www.athletematters.com/
And for podiatry http://www.axis-podiatry.co.uk/
Thing is GTE, I know it sounds drastic but my problems have always been right sided because of the leg length difference but the physio thinks the orthotics may have overcompensated for that now causing left sided problems. So we agreed to try jogging in neutral to see if it it eases the pain, then reassess the orthotics with the podiatrist.
A bit of trial and error really. I had treatment, and both osteo and physio agreed that I was realigned in the pelvic joints and ok to start again but after a few jogs on the orthotics it hurts again. I'll see how it goes.

You're obviously well advised. Good luck with it.

Nightmare. Just as you were really getting going. Snowed/daft hailstone up here tonight meant an extra 45 mins stuck in the car on the way home and no evening runGooner Girl wrote:Cancelled run tonight. My cold has got worse.

Just as well, you are supposed to be easing back into it gently, especially after last nights problems. Bad boy for even thinking about it!Harry Genshaw wrote:Nightmare.
