Has anyone been to the Isle of Skye, btw? Am hoping to pay a visit to the fairy pools soon. they look beautiful.
In Glen Brittle.

I've camped in Glen Brittle fer'chris'sake, and I'd no idea about any fairy pools. (But then again, I don't believe in fairys).
[edit: I've run the Great Chute coming off the peak of Sgurr Alisdair - the longest, steepest scree slope in all of Britain. It's directly above Glen Brittle]

You're the expert there - certainly the colour is rather remarkable if accurate.thebish wrote:glen brittle looks a wee bit doctored to me...

Taken last Friday on Whin Rigg in Wasdale. The paraglider is about 1700' up with me just that little bit higher.

Re: the Photo thread
whilst away on a conference last week - took the opportunity to get up early one morning and go up onto dartmoor (Hound Tor) for the sunrise - which involved getting up at 5:30am. the weather forecast had said it would be clear - but it wasn't - it was cloudy and drizzly and very windy! still - when the sun did finally clear the low clouds on the horizon, it was still low enough to cast a golden glow over the moors - it is a magical sight to sit in the total sheltered calm of Hound Tor - where you can feel no wind despite it raging behind the rocks - and watch the sunlight transform the moorlandscape before your eyes...

Re: the Photo thread
Decided it was about time I went up Burj Khalifa to see what the fuss is about. Being a local I know the smart move is not to pay 150 AED to go to the touristy viewing room on the 124th floor. Nope, book a table by the window in Atmosphere Bar, which is on the 123rd floor. This way you can get a 2 or 3 drinks for the price of the viewing room that has the same views
Top tip is to go before sunset so you get daylight views and night views.
Apologies for quality. Were taken on the phone...

Looking down to the fountains.

Building above the fountain is Souk Al Bahar. Plenty of restaurants there for good food and a view of the fountain shows.

At night.

From the bottom.

Not on your life. I'm never going higher than ground floor if I can help it. I've added high buildings into the same category as aircraft - Category: things to be avoided, sub-category: stuff at height.
