Some time tonight we will get a clearer picture of whether the electorate has been shafted with a very large political dildo, or are merely being lined up to be whacked over the head with a rubber cock.

Firstly. We'll know who voted Aye and No on the 'meaningful vote' and the four amendments.
Secondly. We'll hear what Remainer May has to say about her historic defeat.
Thirdly. We'll see just how far parliament is willing to disable government over this.
In what way are you not going to get a clearer picture?

Re: European Second Referendum
I read an interesting piece recently arguing the Fixed-terms Parliament Act (the we discussed recently that provides for votes of confidence triggering/untriggering (if that's a word!) elections) was a terrible piece of legislation born from short-sighted policy thinking that is largely to blame for our current mess.
I think there's something in that. It seems ridiculous that the govt can rack up these records (first to be found to have misled Parliament, first to lose a vote on a finance bill since forever, possibly record commons defeat today) and just plod on. But there we go.

Just as disastrous as the Liberals continuous whining about PR and other forms of voting...

Re: European Second Referendum
Woe, woe, and woe is us:
Up to half a million British expatriates MAY BE FORCED TO TAKE THEIR DRIVING TEST AGAIN (a large number of them likely to be pensioners)
[I'm seriously in respect of the two million youth who have come of age during this farce who will rescue these ancient recidivists].
Also, British-based motorists who travel to EU as visitors may be required to pay £5.50 for an international driving permit!
How will we cope????

It is a problem. But there is a mechanism to force a vote of no confidence...when you look closer the issue is FTPA AND the quality of the current opposition.Prufrock wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 2:21 pmI read an interesting piece recently arguing the Fixed-terms Parliament Act (the we discussed recently that provides for votes of confidence triggering/untriggering (if that's a word!) elections) was a terrible piece of legislation born from short-sighted policy thinking that is largely to blame for our current mess.

Imagine Tony Blair in his pomp on the opposition bench. He'd have forced May to already ditch this disastrous plan in fear.

May has already indicated that she will simply keep bringing the deal back.
We won't learn anything today. Because there is no ability to get rid of her as Corbyn cannot win a confidence vote. The Tories shot their bolt and cannot get rid of her.
So she plans to just persist with her plan.

Justine Greening - don't agree with her sometimes - but she's excellent. Agree with everything she is saying here.

So plan B is plan A. Plan C is plan B, etc... Which means that by plan K we will have reached March 29th, and still you have no clearer picture ..BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 4:01 pmSorry. Re: European Second Referendum
Angus McNeil makes racist joke at English expense during Brexit debate.
The cxnt is Scottish by the way, if "Angus McNeil" hadn't given you a clue.
PS I don't think even this tossbag will be joining the ever expanding list of BWFCi's List of Excellence...
[overt apologies: MacNeil, not McNeil apparently]

Look, if you need me to spell it out in words of one syllable: for each politician you claim is excellent (because they mirror your view), I too can name an MP that mirrors mine.
