OK, cheers. Possibly, but I think Bryson's at his best when he's pointing out how ridiculous some things are rather than how good some things are. For anyone that does much travelling in Europe, Neither Here nor There truly is a 'must read'.bobo the clown wrote:Thunderbolt Kid. Funniest book of he decade.
You realise that being a kid in mid-West America wasn't a million miles from the UK. Maybe just 10 years ahead.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Any of you read All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr? I've just had it heartily recommended to me.

half way through Blood Meridan... delightful
Re: What are you reading tonight?
I love Cormac McCarthy, read most of his including that one. The Border trilogy was a bit lighter, but some of his stuff is incredibly dark. Have you read Child of God?General Mannerheim wrote:half way through Blood Meridan... delightful

I'm just getting to the end of Robert Goddard's Into The Blue, which you recommended I think. Very good read thanks. I'll pick up another at some point, probably the other featuring Harry Barnett.TANGODANCER wrote:An omnibus edition of three stories by Ian Rankin writing as Jack Harvey.
