Wife dragged me out shopping in Bolton this morning. It got better after cod and chips from the Olympus takeaway. In fact, it got a whole lot better.

Someone, someday must tell me the Mr Natasha Wittam story, btw.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

The Rose and Crown at Ainsworth. Any good? Let me tell you why I ask. I'm going to be away on Mother's Day, which I feel pretty shitty about. So, I've booked Friday off to take the old girl (and lad) for lunch. The criteria is that the menu has to be unfussy, the food decent to good, the place nice and the service level sound enough.
A couple of people I know reckon that this place fits the bill. Anyone?

I go there quite a bit from work Bruce (although not been for a few months now) and it has always met the criteria you're looking for.Bruce Rioja wrote:The Rose and Crown at Ainsworth. Any good? Is that the little restaurant in Ainsworth village further up the road from R&C? I've never heard of anyone who's ever been there. Any good?CAPSLOCK wrote:Get to La Tama, tightarse

Was thinking The Pack Horse missen actually, but when I say straightforward menu, Last time I was there I had the Thai fish casserole, and to Our Lass, that sort of food's been beamed in from the future.

Room for about 30
If he's got the ingredients, he'll make it for you
He's been at it 25 years and I love it
Only 2 or 3 times a year cos it's not cheap, for round here, but faultless
Generally stick to fillet, garlic sauce and veg

Went in the Rose & Crown just after Christmas. Simple food which I would describe as reasonable.
I had steak pie and chips IIRC.

Someone's just fetched a huge tray of Ferrero Rocher into the office for us to spend the morning grazing our way through. It's a filthy business but hey ho!Gooner Girl wrote:Chocolate for breakfast again. Really must get out of this habit...

And anyway, I always thought that mice live inside perfectly semi-circular holes in the skirting board with a matchbox for a bed that has a framed 'home sweet home' above it?!
