Today I'm puzzled, flummoxed and confused. To be honest I wouldn't have thought it possible - but it happened. There's a Sydney Rugby Union competition during winter, my 'local' team, Penrith Emus, yesterday played Eastwood. This is a First Grade comp. with the next level being the Super 15s (or whatever they call it these days). Eastwood, by the way, is one of those teams always expected to vying for end of season honours. Penrith isn't. The score at the final whistle was 454-0. Yes, you read that correctly, 454-0. There are only eighty minutes playing time in R.U. so that equates to a little over 5½ points per minute!

Oh, yes, Penrith was the scoreless team.

After a little investigation, it appears that it's a combined scoreline across four different matches between the teams (first grade, second grade, third grade and fourth grade).

So it's bad, but not quite as bad as the headlines have made out.

That is some straw you're clutching there Nicko. I wasn't sure of the 'grades' but the scores were: first grade 129-0, second grade 125-0, third grade 136-0, and fourths 64-0.

Apparently the 43 year old manager had to play due to player shortages and then 4 players got injured during the matches (one broken arm and another broker ankle).

Just got back home. Temperature is about 50c outside and you're not allowed to eat/drink in public. Just being out and about for a few hours without a drink was hard enough, so hats off to those that are fasting for 14/15 hours in that heat

Other than for observing of the values and customs of others, I'm with LeverEnd's Granny on this. I'll tell you what's even more Pikey than eating and drinking in the street - it's those scuzzy bastards that help themselves to something to eat and drink as they go around the supermarket and then think it acceptable to pay for the empty wrapper at the checkout.
