That is some straw you're clutching there Nicko. I wasn't sure of the 'grades' but the scores were: first grade 129-0, second grade 125-0, third grade 136-0, and fourths 64-0.Nicko58 wrote:After a little investigation, it appears that it's a combined scoreline across four different matches between the teams (first grade, second grade, third grade and fourth grade).Dujon wrote:Today I'm puzzled, flummoxed and confused. To be honest I wouldn't have thought it possible - but it happened. There's a Sydney Rugby Union competition during winter, my 'local' team, Penrith Emus, yesterday played Eastwood. This is a First Grade comp. with the next level being the Super 15s (or whatever they call it these days). Eastwood, by the way, is one of those teams always expected to vying for end of season honours. Penrith isn't. The score at the final whistle was 454-0. Yes, you read that correctly, 454-0. There are only eighty minutes playing time in R.U. so that equates to a little over 5½ points per minute!
Oh, yes, Penrith was the scoreless team.
So it's bad, but not quite as bad as the headlines have made out.
Apparently the 43 year old manager had to play due to player shortages and then 4 players got injured during the matches (one broken arm and another broker ankle).

Ah, so the average score in each match was only 117-0. Could happen to any team....Nicko58 wrote:After a little investigation, it appears that it's a combined scoreline across four different matches between the teams (first grade, second grade, third grade and fourth grade).Dujon wrote:Today I'm puzzled, flummoxed and confused. Wouldn't want to come up against their 4th team, they look a bit good.malcd1 wrote:That is some straw you're clutching there Nicko. Eastwood v Penrith.
Thanks, chaps. I did find out the true situation later on in the day. These things happen when you're half asleep when reading the 'paper, having your breakfast coffee plus the first fag of the day and have a radio jabbering away in the background. Silly me!

Sat in the doctor's waiting room listening to a guy in his 80's telling a female friend about his prostate problems whilst sitting next to a woman warbling along to The Nolan's "I'm in the mood for dancing" whilst knowing just 3 words of the chorus. Kill. Me. Now.

Had a moment earlier when the tv suddenly went blank for a minute. Briefly a screen popped up with loads of arabic and a pair of arabic swords, then normally telly resumed. For a second I thought ISIS had taken over my telly

Just got back home. Temperature is about 50c outside and you're not allowed to eat/drink in public. Just being out and about for a few hours without a drink was hard enough, so hats off to those that are fasting for 14/15 hours in that heat

Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....
Why not? My Grandma used to think that people who ate/drank in the street were 'common'.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Just got back home. It's Ramadan. No eating and drinking in public from sunrise to sunset.

Other than for observing of the values and customs of others, I'm with LeverEnd's Granny on this. I'll tell you what's even more Pikey than eating and drinking in the street - it's those scuzzy bastards that help themselves to something to eat and drink as they go around the supermarket and then think it acceptable to pay for the empty wrapper at the checkout. What do they think it is - a fecking finger buffet?? Pikey nice people.jaffka wrote:Intolerant of other people's values and culture.
