Exactly that. It reckoned that there was a half a ball hitting leg. I'm not having any of it. It was a fecking lovely Yorker, but for me it was going down.Nicko58 wrote:I've just watched the highlights and I'm not having it that the delivery that got Bell out was hitting leg stump.
I don't care what Hawkeye says.

Michael Vaughan said the same. I'm not sure how any predictive system can tell swing and movement off the seam. However the tests show it is very accurate. And the same for both sides, so probably fair enough overall.Bruce Rioja wrote:Exactly that. It reckoned that there was a half a ball hitting leg. I'm not having any of it. Re: 2015 Ashes
I'm convinced it got done by it hitting the front pad first. The line from where it pitched to his back leg would have been on, but it didn't do that, it went further down leg side before clipping his front pad then his back.

Re: 2015 Ashes
The first "point of interception" is the one that counts (and only the first point of interception). You're then trying to assess whether that point of interception would have pitched wicket to wicket and continuing on a line from there would have hit the wicket. Anything that causes an interception after that doesn't count...Prufrock wrote:I'm convinced it got done by it hitting the front pad first. Re: 2015 Ashes
I guess that's the point I'm trying to make. How good is it at recognising "points of interception". Coz if it missed it hitting front pad before back, and though it hitting his back leg was the first point of interception, that would "straighten" the line it pitched on and make it look like it was hitting. Coz it definitely looked like it was creeping down leg on the replays.
Totally accept, btw, the most likely outcome is that they've totally thought of that^ and my eyes+brain combo isn't as good as Hawkeye

I'm smiling big but not laughing out loudly yet. It's cricket and many strange things happen. Must say it's all looking very healthy right now.

There's going to be some run rate this morning with Wood going like he is, Stokes just in, and Buttler and Moeen to come!

Re: 2015 Ashes
they have taken wickets (or rather, Starc has) - but the run-rate has simply rocketed along!

More than 100 added today already. Starc has bowled well, but the Aussies cannot maintain enough line and length discipline for long enough periods.

391 for 9 declared. Three hundred and thirty ahead. All depends on the bowlers now to upset a lot of weekend plans....
