So where are you going on your Summer hols TWers?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Having spent every last penny that the Student Loan Company and the EU Erasmus fund has given me during these last few months, I'm afraid that my holiday plans will be rather more modest than most in this thread. I would like a week somewhere with beaches though, perhaps a Greek island. Apart from a week marshalling the practice ground at Royal Birkdale for the Open, I haven't got any employment sorted out yet, so maybe it will just be Newquay or the like....

But I do have my fifth trip to Bavaria in 12 months in the middle of June when I'm back there for the International Students Matchplay Golf for a few days, which I'm really looking forward to. I'm seriously considering having a stab at learning German in the next academic in the free classes that are available at uni, so that I might be able to spend some of my working life in the region.

Nabq bay, Sharm El Sheikh. big all inclusive job, scuba and snorkelling every day, not much history, unless you count Moses 'parting' the red sea? but St Catherines Monastery & Mt Sinai are not far.

Was thinking of going to Sharm later in the year maybe, can't quite make my mind up if there's enough there to keep a 5 year old happy - what's the verdict?

Too many stag do's for summer holidays (got a weekend in Prague, a weekend at "Wakestock" in Abersoch, and a wedding in greece so cannot grumble too much I guess), and a week skiing over New Year basically wiped me out for a summer break

Well there's nowt to do outside of the resort, apart from dive trips obviously. but the resort had 2 massive pools, playground, tennis courts etc, our hotel had an impressive astroturf footy pitch too! plus there was a kids club, kids mini disco at night. so yeah i reckon your little'uns would enjoy it. I would try and search for a ulimately british hotel though, there are hundreds to choose from but its also very popular with Russians, Italians, Germans too, ours was run by firstchoice but it still had a handfull of them, which was fine but i would not like being outnumbered by them! i know its a cliche, but the russians just sit at the bar slugging vodka all day! and one or two were a bit boisterous by nighttime, but i reckon id be fed up af all the entertainment by day and night was in Russian!

Had my 'holiday' for the year already, with a week in Marrakech back in March. Got a few long weekend type things lined up for the summer, though - a golfing trip to Northern Ireland and a few days at the Edinburgh Fringe being the main highlights, then saving the rest of my days off work for a couple of European away trips in the new season, probably.

If it helps I've always found four phrases useful for most occasions when in Germany (I don't guarantee the spelling).

"Ein bier bitte"
"Haben zie die bratwurst mit kraut"
Ich murchte ein doppelzimmer mid bad"
Wo est die fraulein mit die kleine sitzen und die grosse titzen".

Prestatyn for five days in early July for me, not worth the hassle going abroad with a little 'un.

Love to get to Benidorm for Christmas if it's possible. Done it a few times and it's great.

You're bloody joking. It's like Salford Precinct with the oven turned up full. Been once, never again.

This is something I don't understand with the holidaying folk - going to the same place again and again. There are a few reasons that make sense as to why people might go away to the same place/area time and again - relatives living there, perhaps owning a property, etc, but I've not understood the logic behind someone who goes to the same hotel/resort year-in, year-out.

If there are people on here who habitually travel to the same destinations year after year, could they perhaps explain the phonemenon?

A lot's down to where you stay. The big hotels, like Poseiden Palace do reasonable rates and have plenty in house entertainment at nights. There's loads of activity, a great atmosphere and music everywhere. Even a couple of Tango bars in the old-town last time I went and plenty bars showing the big-screen Boxing day matches. Boat trip out to the island, excursions and plenty shops for the wife. Do for me thanks.
