Would have preferred the wonderfully named Daisy Dick to win one instead. Best name in the Games.
Silver in the canoeing as well.
Looking good as well in one of the best sports at the Games, playing wise as well as watching, badminton. Emms and Robertson knock out the second seed Chinese in a thrilling game to reach the quarter finals.

They looked dead and buried in the last set. Great guts and attitude not to give in.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Would have preferred the wonderfully named Daisy Dick to win one instead. Best name in the Games.

I watched it live as well. She was the favourite, and had entered at that weight. She needed to make that lift to stay in the competition, missed it. She headbutts the wall, such is her agression. No accident, just the after effects of the steroids she'd done outside the time they could be traced

I seem to remember a story about the Greeks having a great time over Pippa Funnell.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Would have preferred the wonderfully named Daisy Dick to win one instead. Best name in the Games.

Apparently Pippa is greek slang for fellatio.

Unbelievable from Bolt... I really can't fathom how he ran that fast so easily today. I wondered whether he'd deal with the pressure of an Olympic final - ha!

I'm not usually a fan of the 100 metres, crayons, but I was amazed by that performance. Nor am I that good a judge of distance (particularly on television) but it seemed to me that he coasted - indeed celebrated in a fashion - at the 80 metre mark. Having seen the heats in which he participated as well as the final (non of which did he sprint all the way to the 'tape') it makes me wonder what the man could achieve - time wise - if he did. Yesterday's effort, even though a world record, could surely have been a tenth of a second faster had he kept the festivities on hold until after the event.

Although I haven't bothered to check, it seems that the GB medal tally this year is much better than in previous Olympic Games - particularly in the swimming. Well done all.

Really ? ... You can't ?? You can't work out how all those atheltes from just a few small islands all run so damn quickly ??mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Unbelievable from Bolt... 3 from Jamaica, 2 from Trinidad & Tobago, 1 from the Netherland Antilles along with 2 US runners constitute the 100m final.
Really ... you've no idea ??
Do the words 'Flo-Jo' or 'Marion Jones' mean anything to you ?
Or maybe Ben Johnson ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

You've got to let the testers do their jobs and appreciate the sport as it unfolds for what it is.
Drugs or not, to run that time in that fashion was incredible. Unlike Dujon, I'm a big fan of this event (I even did it myself to a decent schools level and went well under 12 seconds a few times
) and I've never seen anything like it. The weird thing is, he's not even very explosive out of the blocks! But what he does in between 35-75 metres is just ridiculous....
Of course, much is made of the easing down thing, but it does make it very clear that he's relaxed, and not being tense is absolutely crucial to running those times. Compare with Gay when he crashed out in the semis.
