Incredible place, work they do is fantastic. Would go there time and time again if I could. The founder Jim Cronin and Jeremy the zoo keeper are real heroesthebish wrote:also... the twins might enjoy the Monkey World Ape Rescue centre... that's close enough

Re: Summer holidays...
Lyme Regis is very beautiful and interesting if you like fossils (I would move there tomorrow). Beer (the place) is nice too.
Cricket St Thomas near Crewkern used to be great for little ones (toddlers), Mr Blobby used to live there
Bovington Tank museum for the boys Its right next to Monkey World, one of the apes used to get pissed off with the tanks and would get really mad (the ape was called Charlie and I sponsered him once)
Be careful at Chesil Beech as its drops away suddenly
If you don't mind a drive Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are pretty too
You are spoilt down there, something for everyone.

Thanks raven, that's helpful. We are going to go to monkey world, also will probably explore chesil beach at somepoint given where we are staying is a couple of hundred yards away from it (doesn't look very buggy friendly though!) not sure what else yet, depends on the weather!

We're going back to Brittanny in August. Lovely area around le Val Andre and St. Malo.
I particularly look forward to my annual binge on 'Ker y Pom', a local delicacy, which is a little shortcrust pie with half an apple in it. Yum.

Gary, that pie looks yum! Bring us one back?!
Raven, went to Monkey world yesterday. It was good but i have been to better animal places. Feel inspired to watch the telly show now though.
Today we drove up to the top of Portland, saw the lighthouse and amazing views over the harbour and Chesil beach

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

He hasn't decided yet.

I hope he won't be selling one of his children to fund it.
Disgraceful behaviour that, smiling about it and everything.

Wouldn't be able to find any bugger stupid enough to buy 'em.
And one of them no longer counts as "children" as she's 18.

Re: Summer holidays...
Just got back from Cornwall with Ms Prufrock. Her parents have a house down in Coverack so we stayed there. The odd geographical nightmare aside (seriously, a Mawnan and a Mawgan really close to each other?) was ace. Lots of fun stuff and that. Weather was grey for the first few days then really nice. And the stars down there....
