For me i cant get me head round barm CAKE or flour CAKE – cake is Victoria sponge or chocolate cake. Sweet.

I and everyone round me know it as a muffin, these ‘blueberry muffins’ and the like are a modern Americanist concept, and as such are held in disregard.

anyway been onto Wiki about this, its all regional. And you lot are scousers....

• Muffin Some people in the UK refer to a bread roll as a "muffin" (commonly used in Rochdale, Oldham, Bury, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Salford and parts of West Yorkshire), although a muffin is also a separate, distinct form of bread product. See English muffin.

• Barm or barm cake Term used in Liverpool/Lancashire... is a flat, often floured, savoury, small bread made using a natural leaven including mashed hops to stop it souring. It is also slang for a batch.

• Flour cake is also used, along with barm, in Bolton.

Muffins are what mules are called, Rolls are what you drive (if you are rich), cobs are what you eat, especially buttered with chips salt and vinegar in - them's chip cobs.

No. They get the blackened ring because they get turned over part way through baking. They are flatter than your rolls and have a slightly floury texture. Having the flatter profile means you can get more filling in them without dislocating your jaw trying to eat it

Cobs involve corn. Anyways, if it involves chips it can only be known as a chip butty.

What about snap. I used to work with a bloke who even differentiated between scran and snap, as in "I'm got some fine scran in me snap today".

As an aside I have a lot of Scots friends, and lived in Edinburgh for a time, and I can still wind my missus up by using a phrase I picked up when there, asking where your tea/dinner is… “woman, fetch ma mince”.

Haha noooooo!! That was the best way to say it. I was going to say that's what you stick your sausage in. Then I remembered you probably wouldn't want everybody to know.

You put a burger in a bun.

Anything made with slices of bread is a butty. No room for sandwich in my vocabulary.

Barm barm barm barm barm.

Owt else is wrong.

Hot dog bread is a roll.

You ask for a "chip barm" not a fecking "chip roll" or a "chip muffin".
