Re: You take the high road...
Would we stop flying the Union Flag if they became independent?

no - it seems not..mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Would we stop flying the Union Flag if they became independent?
despite not being a nation but a principality - I think it would be a good opportunity to axe the scots blue and incorporate a welsh dragon...the College of Arms has told ITV News that there are no plans to change the Union Flag if Scotland becomes an independent state.
of course - I guess this would be a MASSIVELY expensive exercise considering all the union flags/jacks there are in the Empire!

Re: You take the high road...
Or we could just do away with it completely given every Welshman outside of Swansea would not be caught dead with a union jack. Lets just start flying England flags.

I can't say I've ever waved any national flag, so I'll waive that particular privilege, if you don't mind dan.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

So you have never even stood above an England flag at a football match because that is very much the jest of what I am saying.

Re: You take the high road...
I'm not quite sure how I could stand above a flag, or indeed how the act of standing above one (which I would still be unsure of) would equate to me waving one. And not waiving one. As it were.

Really ? You think ??thebish wrote:despite not being a nation but a principality - I think it would be a good opportunity to axe the scots blue and incorporate a welsh dragon...
If the kilt wearers leave, and the remark about the sheer cost of changing the flag isn't irrelevant, taking the blue out would leave the Union flag looking rather anaemic.
It's a shame the construct has no Welsh inclusion, but the green won't sit well ... simply as a matter of sheer taste, and some mythical animal stuck on it ?? Not for me.
Anyway, the flag we have, even if things overtake it, is iconic and by far one off the better flags of the World.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I imagine they would incorporate St. David's cross rather than a dragon.

^ I make a point of correcting the grammar/spelling those who have a habit of correcting the grammar/spelling of others... I still think that's reasonable.
