I'M PROBABLY AS IGNORANT AS SH ABOUT IRWINSAMHATER wrote:Ok, fair point, I shouldn't have posted the negative comment.
I agree, no need
Sorry
BOTH OF US PROBABLY KNOW HIM BEST FOR HIS RECKLESS - YES IT WAS - ACT INVOLVING HIS YOUNG UN
THAT HAD HIM DOWN AS A COCK IN MY BOOK TOO
MAYBE ALL THE GOOD STUFF BALANCES IT OUT
STILL, HE'S DEAD, AND HES SOMEBODIES DAD

Irwin used his fame and fortune for good though. He put an amazing amount of money in conservation. And he took it to a global scale. Lord knows how many people he's influenced.
If there was even a small percent his child had been gobbled up by that Croc, he wouldn't of done it. Armchair experts who say he's a bad parent because of that don't have a clue.
RIP Steve. A great man, with an infectious passion for nature that will be sorely missed. They don't make many like him.

Don't dig it out because he does himself no favours with his analogies. Rather let's just leave it that Steve had worked with crocs from the age of 9, he knew the situation better than anyone.keveh wrote:I've seen the press conference video of him giving his reasons behind it, and him saying the child was always safe.
I'll try and dig it out, but I'd rather be 1 month old a be held by Steve Irwin next to a crocodile than driven around in a car by half the people I see on the roads.

Correct.Bruce Rioja wrote: I think you'll find that Best was given a round of applause at grounds and not a "2 minute silence", thus making it easy for those of us, like me, with no respect for Best beyond his footballing ability to abstain, without offending those that did hold the guy in esteem and wished to show it.
Outside of football George Best left little to admire him for. Not sure how anyone who ruined his own life by being a party animal, got a second chance and then blew that down the same plug-hole can be compared to a conservationalist who died in an unfortunate accident whilst doing his job. No logic there at all.
I've never had much to say about George Best. I neither met him, knew him or wanted to. He chose his own path and paid the price. On the other hand, I'd have been quite happy to meet the crocodile man. Dying is rarely heroic since we are all going to die sometime. Let's leave the dead in peace. I doubt few could look Steve Irwin's wife in the face and come out with the comments they so laughingly snigger behind their hands on a conversation forum. It's long been my belief that if you can't say it to their face, don't bother saying it at all. How about we drop the whole thing?

i love her bit about living with 12 venomous snakes in her part of Queensland - really? So why is the wrinkle faced, saggy-titted harriden on the fecking telly all the time here???? Feck off back there you wittery old cow, ooh the irony that one whose nipples swing so pendulously near her knees should have been the one to advocate burning bras.

Apart from at the one match that happened to occur that weekend between United's biggest two rivals - City and Us. There wasn't a great deal of empathy ringing around the city of manchester stadium that day, I'll tell you. In fact, some of the media would be quite happy to tell you otherwiseBruce Rioja wrote:Noooo, you're wrong again!SAMHATER wrote:My point is that everyone slated Best for being a drunken wifebeater, then when he died, he was a legend and a great man worthy of a 2 minute silence up and down the country.I think you'll find that Best was given a round of applause at grounds and not a "2 minute silence", thus making it easy for those of us, like me, with no respect for Best beyond his footballing ability to abstain, without offending those that did hold the guy in esteem and wished to show it.
