Biggest problem is ambition. Not a lot want to leave the comfort of home. See Landon Donavan  Mainly though, it is the MLS being unwilling to let its talent go.

I disagree with this statement completely.

McBride I will give you, he's done alright for a poor Fulham side who play to his strengths.

Reyna on the other hand is one of the most injury-prone players in the Prem and so has never proven whether he has the talent or consistency to play to a high level. Yes he is the USA captain, but (correct me if i'm wrong) has he ever played over 25 games in a Premiership season? It also doesn't look as if he is going to ever get a chance to prove he is any good as he's getting on a bit now.

Bocanegra on the other hand is crap - just look at Fulham's defensive record.

Also didn't City sign Beasley? Whats gone on with him? Is he injured or can he just not break into the City team?

There probably are more players in the US who could make it in the Prem, however I doubt any could come over and make a massive impact. Squad players fair enough, but we've got enough of them - we need extra quality and I don't think we'll find it in the states.

I do laugh when people suggest we should sign the likes of Earnshaw, Eastwood etc from Championship but then scoff at the opportunity to sign an American player. Fair enough, you can make a judgement on the Championship because you've seen it but how many can honestly say they've seen a full MLS game? I've seen plenty and the standard is that of the Championship imv, so they'd be gamble signings but could pay off handsomely and be cheaper than the Championship players in the process.

A player like Ryan Nelson is the perfect illustration.
