It's called austerity. Bit like having a personal photographer on the public payroll.thebish wrote:How Green is it to catch a plane back from Zurich to London just for one hour of of PMQs - and then fly straight back to Zurich?? Wife bought a household item in a Bolton store a few days ago. It didn't do what she wanted so she kept the receipt and took it back this morning. After getting in a longish queue she got to the till and was told "Oh, it needs a manager for refunds, wait over there will you." The guy made a tannoy call for a manager, repeated a further twice and he finally appeared. "Oh, we're a bit busy, just stay there till the queues go down a bit". He then started serving other customers. After waiting patiently my wife finally got fed up and said: "Excuse me, I stood in a queue like the rest to get to the till. Can you please serve me?" Manager: Oh, well, we're a bit busy and we've only a couple of tills going, can you come back another day?" When she told him no he grumpily took all of two minutes to process the refund.
Great customer service.

No problem. Twas Poundstretchers on the corner of Deansgate and Knowsley Street and my wife was a bit more polite than I'd have been if I'd been with her.Bruce Rioja wrote:I think a name-and-shame's in order there, Tango. Poundstretchers, not The Pound Shop. The items,(there were two) were sixteen quid. Not a fotune, but no excuse for bad manners.East Lower wrote:Arguing over a quid?!?

My mistake. I haven't been in Poundstretchers for yonks. It's no Home Bargains.

Tango ... you have my assurance that I shall never ... EVER ... use that branch of Poundstretcher again.TANGODANCER wrote:No problem. Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

My mother had a famous habit of boycotting shops that had displeased her..bobo the clown wrote:Tango ... you have my assurance that I shall never ... in the end we had to leave Bolton - there was nowhere left to shop!
Me: I'll just pop in here and buy a set of juggling clubs
mum: No! we don't shop in there
Me: why?
mum: I can't remember - but we don't!

Student Loans Company. A debt Mustafa Riga couldn't pay off with a weeks wage and I don't even get a pre-paid envelope in which to return an utterly pointless form.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
While I'm here... Ridiculous language. Company survey from work, for a start, has in bold on the introductory page, "SEIZE THIS OPPURTUNITY TO EXPRESS YOURSELF!" Cock off. I can sense they toyed with the idea of two exclamation marks. Worse though, it has 'Section C- My perception of personal development......C.1 The means of communication available provide enough information--------Strongly Agree etc..." What in the name of Coyle does that mean? It's ludicrously management speak bollocks if it even had context, but that is literally it. I have no idea what that means.
I'm also later asked if I believe that 'our group has high ethical and moral standards'. They make boilers.
It's a good idea, and they do actually seem quite a good company for looking after folk, but this pervasive and stupid language annoys me, and that's what this thread is for.

Having a bad day then Pru? Better get used to the way things work today in most forms of employment. Annual assessments should be good fun for you.Prufrock wrote: .
