I'm also later asked if I believe that 'our group has high ethical and moral standards'. They make boilers.
It's a good idea, and they do actually seem quite a good company for looking after folk, but this pervasive and stupid language annoys me, and that's what this thread is for.
You can seize this opportunity to express yourself!! Tell them they're talking bollocks.
Though they only appear to be asking whether you have enough information to support your management of your personal development goals....
Do you think people making boilers shouldn't have high ethical and moral standards? Maybe they should employ some folk cash in hand, to help keep pay competitive.

It's a bit of a bad period right now, but firms use things like this to assess possible bonuses and not to just wind you up and waste time. Ethics and morals are just as important whatever you're doing ,managing directors or bin men (that doesn't include ours, of course, who have none of either)Prufrock wrote:TANGODANCER wrote:Having a bad day then Pru? Aye! It's balls. I'm gonna work for myself! I don't think I'm a tosser. Not that much anyway.

If we're going off the moral standards of boilers I've been with, I'd say no.Prufrock wrote:I'm also later asked if I believe that 'our group has high ethical and moral standards'. They make boilers.

Fckg hell Pru. How long have you been in the land of employment ?Prufrock wrote:While I'm here... Ridiculous language. If you let corporate-speak and attempts to internally assess and market company policies gets to you like this then maybe it's not for you.
You say they seem like a decent company. Then go with the flow.
By the way .... disrespecting the company's existence isn't exactly the place for high-fliers either.
I can give you root & branch as to why the product isn't relevant in how the Company operates as an organisation. I can also give you a few very dull tales as to why boilers are vital cogs in the World's economy.Prufrock wrote:

Sheesh lad. You'll never pay that Student Loan off !!

I know this is the angry thread and irrationality has its place here..
BUT - I really can't understand why this should be part of your rant... They make boilers - YES! presumably they sell them too - and employ people to make them... and have commercial dealings with the world..
is it not important that in all of that - their dealings with the world and you as employees that they have high ethical and moral standards? ie. - they don't rip you off??

I'm fairly sure if the company was employing a raft of illegals to knock out boilers at a wage of £3 an hour in their hand, that Mr Prufrock might well be amonst the first to cry foul...thebish wrote:Prufrock wrote:

Seriously, though, he's right.
That and shit like mission statements.
I want someone to pay me a fortune for thinking up stuff like "Its a restaurant, we feed people you dumb fcuker" or "The Police, arresting people and shit".
The makers of these should be tortured. Stick that up your high ethical and moral standards. Its all part of the same whole.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
LK gets it. A company may follow all the environmental and employment laws, they may have good bosses who want their staff to be happy as well as making money for the company, but the 'group' does not have 'high moral and ethical standards'.
It's only a temp job, on a factory line. The work is boring and the pay isn't great, but I'm not complaining, there are people far worse off, and as ever in that kind of job, the workmates make or break it, and they are fine, but the corporate world I don't think is ever where I'll end up. I could not take being around that kind of ludicrous language all the time. I honestly couldn't keep a straight face whilst asking somebody if the means of communication provide enough information on the ethical policy of the company going forward. I'd either laugh or explode.

The bin? What would be the use of that? Especially when it came with an addressed envelope!
I actually filled in the comprehensible majority properly, and wrote witty comments such as 'What?' and 'Jargon!' next to the others. It's anonymous see. Passive aggressive wins the day. Cpt Cool reporting for duty.

The only way to avoid bllx management speak is to be self employed. Otherwise it will exist, in public or private employment.
.... oh, & in the pivate employment world it's just the customers bllx you'll have to put up with. Plus the Government paperwork of course.
It's shite, but it ain't going away.
When my boss said "we plan to reduce the service-level agreement to the customer" he meant "we will be doing less". I laughed. He told me I wasn't taking him seriously. I told him I'd start when he did.
I work for myself now.
... & very happy about it.

Ah ha! You failed to notice that each form is surreptitiously marked enabling the sender to be identified.Prufrock wrote:The bin? What would be the use of that? Especially when it came with an addressed envelope!

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
That I can understand! I spent most of the summer filling in application forms for graduate schemes in all variety of areas of business and commerce and it made me want to die. I just don't think I am cut out for it. Instead the plan is to do one of those there law conversions. Because the law is well renowned for it's plainly spoken English. Even then I think you have to deal with people who talk like that. I'll try not to kill them. Though at least if I did I'd save on legal fees.bobo the clown wrote:Then, my son, we will make a capitalist of you yet.Prufrock wrote:That was for Bobo. I am not complaining about the job. I was confused by this at first, then I realised that you must have meant loft conversions, that you could do on your own.Prufrock wrote:Instead the plan is to do one of those there law conversions. Because the law is well renowned for it's plainly spoken English.

How thick do you think me?! I secretly swapped mine with the boss' and also I wrote it with my right (wrong) hand. Which I had sat on. To make it numb. And it's in pink ink. They'll never catch me.

That post was made with more than merely a light ladling of sarcasm (see it's piss this talking shite).
You jest but when t'mother went into the butchers a few weeks ago my decision came up in conversation and one of them looking confused asked why I was saving up for a loft conversion.
